How much DVR space do you currently have free?
The Holiday TV hiatus is coming to a close and hopefully most of you got caught up on some or most of your backlog over the break.
I know I did. Went into the Holiday break with roughly 12% free and after several binge watch sessions, I managed to now free up 51% now.
This is all watching and not deleting anything because I was too lazy or unmotivated to watch it.
What about all of you? Are you still severely backlogged?
For the record, I have a Directv Genie and it can record 5 shows at once and can store up to 200 hours of HD content.

My DVR ends up storing hundreds of movies I probably will never get around to watching. I usually record anything that I don't think will receive a Blu-ray edition or other suitable presentation.

I'm around 10%.
I keep a bunch of those Disney parks travel shows on my DVR. Family members like to watch them before we take a trip. So those stay on forever. And that's about 30-40% of the DVR space.
I've also got some of those Hallmark Channel Christmas movies that I haven't gotten around to watching yet. If I don't watch them in the next couple weeks, I'll probably just erase them. That's another 40%.
The rest is a few odds and ends like some Teen Titans Go episodes for my niece when she visits. I don't record current TV episodes for myself. I watch TV shows on streaming (Hulu or Vudu).

70-80%. I kind of wish I had more space, when I moved I kept the same cable provider but they replaced my previous DVR with an older one and I swear there's much less space.

45% after watching the last few episodes of Hawaii 5-0.
Is there a way to add storage to boxes provided by the cable companies? I have UVerse, and with my kids' stuff being recorded and the stuff my wife and I watch, it gets eaten up quick.

I'm down to 99% free. I typically amass crap on the PVR between April and October, when I'm away much of the time, then spend the post-October weeks and months rifling through all that stuff, FFing through and erasing the chaff and watching the wheat.

I have 40% free right now. I record a lot of documentaries from History Channel, NatGeo, and a couple of other channels. I will probably watching some of those on the weekends and then delete them.

98 percent but I just added an external 3tb drive to my DirecTV genie

If you add an external hard drive to the Genie, that takes over as the hard drive of record right?
Is it just as easy and plugging it in the USB port? You would lose your current recordings if you put it in before the current drive is cleared out?

I have about 7% free right now. It's a constant battle to keep free space to record what I want to watch on a given day. I keep a backlog of comedies that I only watch on Friday and Saturday to help me relax before I have to go to bed and get up at 3am for work.

I'm not backlogged, but still only have about 10% free. My problem is that each member of my family has one show they like to "keep" throughout the season. That results in 22-24 episodes of an HD show...multiple times!

I just got a new box last week, so it's completely empty. I've watched everything I've recorded with it so far.

I'm not sure what good a percentage number is without knowing the size of all hard drives on someone's system.
Is anyone on Comcast system where they've switched to MPEG4 already? That should bring a reduction in the size of recorded shows.

I'm about 82% free right now (with a 500G drive). I'm only that full because I keep about 30-40 episodes of standard def NCIS at all times for my wife to binge on (she doesn't seem to notice the difference between standard and HD).
