I was hoping for another patch for the quilt from "Rhinoceros", most likely the standoff at the Police Station.
It's cool that the star of Christine and Jaws 2 has found a second career as a go-to prestige-drama TV director.

I'm of two minds about that. Certainly, they have more than earned the right to try again though.

How about a season not set in the winter? Or is it always cold and snowy there?

I'm not surprised. FX likes winning Emmys and this show will be winning them in bulk.
Wonder what Hawley will do for Season 3. I imagine he goes in some sort of a new direction, but he's set a precedent of having one season tangentially related to another. I'd like to have this upcoming season in some way related to the last, but not sure how one does that unless you take it present-day and make Gus' daughter Greta a main character as a young adult. She'd be like 22 in 2016, so she probably wouldn't be a police officer, but maybe she's the rookie cop, maybe she's newly married to the new sheriff or something like that. It might work.
Then again, having a caption saying "This is a true story. The events depicted took place in Minnesota in 2016" wouldn't sound right.

Gotta be winter. Winter = Fargo.
I had another thought : I suppose in order to stay in the limited series category, I guess they can't bring over any actors playing the same characters, but if they could for an actor who only appeared once, I wouldn't have minded a series built around Sheriff Vern who gets murdered in the pilot. I like that actor and was bummed when he was killed so soon. I wouldn't mind seeing more of him in a prequel of sorts, set elsewhere in Minnesota.

Of course I totally neglected the most obvious tenuous connection : the buried briefcase with $920,000. They could open with whomever finds that ice scraper that Starvos Milos buried in the snow in 2006 and carry on from there.
They could go total Heavy Metal and make it the thread that runs through all the stories. Wouldn't be difficult even now -- Kansas City just lowered their offer to the Gerhardts $1M before the war started. If that million dollars were somewhere in Joe Bulo's apartment and found after his death, the writers could easily find a reason to bury it in the snow on the side of the road where it could be found a few months later by a young Wade Gufstason, who puts it towards his dream of owning a car dealership...

I was really hoping "The Undertaker" would be some huge, evil looking, merciless killer and was kinda bummed when he just turned out to be an everyday older guy. Then I laughed when Mike and the Kitchen brother took them out without trouble.

Simone and Bear = shades of Adriana/Silvio. Except there was no one forcing Simone's actions, whereas Adriana had the FBI.

It would have been an even better swerve if they could have gotten somebody pretty famous to play that part.

Sonofabitch this show is great. This is creeping towards being one of my favorite single season of television shows ever. I loved season one, but amazingly this has passed it by.
