Re: Star Trek: Discovery -- from EP Bryan Fuller -- Coming to CBS All-Access in 2017
It's funny. The actor who played him in TOS was in his mid-30s. I would have figured mid-late 40s. So Rainn is 51 and this show is supposed to be pre-TOS.
But it might take 100s of years before this series ever gets off the ground, so it might all be moot.

The show has been filming for a little while now, unless something catastrophic happens, it's going to air. At the worst we only get 13 episodes added to the canon and in a few years they do a more family friendly space-anomaly-of-the-week series like TOS, TNG and VOY turned out.
Anyways, regarding Mudd, I would never have taken the original actor to be in his mid-30s and I didn't realize Rainn Wilson was that old so maybe they're going with the concept that humans live to a ripe old age in this era so his appearance in TOS isn't so far fetched.

Didn't know Rainn Wilson was 51. I'd have guessed that he was maybe a weird-looking 40.
Going by TOS, I would have figured that Roger C. Carmel was about 50.

Age is seemingly all relative. When I first watched TOS in reruns, I was 8 or 9, so Roger seemed really old. When I watched The Office, I never would have thought Dwight was 5 years older than me.

The accepted times for the bulk of TOS is 2266-2269 and DSC is supposed to be "10 years" before that. For comparison, The Cage (with Captain Pike and a young, shouty Mr. Spock is supposed to occur in 2254.

That looks like feature film quality.
Remember the 1st episode will air on CBS. The rest are All-Access only.

Yup. They'll get zero dollars form me to see it real time. This show will be heavily pirated by otherwise interested fans, or they will wait till they can watch it on disc. This isn't one of the existing services that has far more bang for your buck should somebody choose to pay to watch.

The funny thing is that this will be available overseas on Netflix. You used to be able to use VPNs to circumvent that and be able to watch their content with your U.S. Account.
But Netflix has now instigated blocking of all VPNs. So VPNs are now useless.
Sadly you're all right. This will get pirated streamed by everyone with a Amazon Fire stick, who refuse to pay for All-Access.

Anyone with half a brain will torrent this before paying CBS for one show. IF they have the other half they will use a VPN while doing so.
Are those supposed to be the Klingons or have we not seen them in this show yet?

It just looks like more of the same. And it suffers from the same problem as Enterprise, a prequel that looks slicker than the original Star Trek.
