I blame Kurt Sutter for this trend of 90 minute episodes on FX.

But, if movie-length Fargo episodes is what we end up with, I have no complaints. |
Re: Fargo (S2E02) -- "Before The Law" -- 10/19/15
I have zero issue with extended Fargo episodes as long as it is not standard length with 30 minutes of additional commercials which I doubt it will be.

There will be a shitload of commercials tonight, no doubt. I'd love to know the actual length of episodes, the ones we'll get in the BluRay. |
Re: Fargo (S2E02) -- "Before The Law" -- 10/19/15
There were quite a few extended episodes last year. The show did not suffer.

This show does not suck.

Jesus Meth Damon just outdid his BB character.

Re: Fargo (S2E02) -- "Before The Law" -- 10/19/15
Another outstanding episode. Didn't even seem like 90 mins.

What the hell is with the UFO stuff.

Re: Fargo (S2E02) -- "Before The Law" -- 10/19/15
Terrific episode. Maybe I am forgetting one, but I think this show has the best cinematography I have seen in any TV show, and the whole thing just feels like a feature film. Not a single wasted shot or filler. It is amazingly good. The mini standoff with the KC three and Danson was pretty tense. Danson did excellent work there showing both toughness and fear at the same time. I need to watch it last though in any given night it makes everything else seem crappy.

Re: Fargo (S2E02) -- "Before The Law" -- 10/19/15
It ran 75 minutes, here. I doubt we missed any, so you guys probably got saddled with an extra 15 minutes of commercials.
I saw the butcher shop scene coming a mile off, but it was still pretty gruesome. Was a bit annoying, though, that he was feeding bones into the meat grinder. I know some can do bones, but it's hard to imagine large leg bones being handled. Nice homage, though, to the movie. Actually, the above scene also reminded me of S1 when Lester sent Linda into the shop, where she was killed. |

The Chinaman is not the issue here, dude.

Re: Fargo (S2E02) -- "Before The Law" -- 10/19/15
Ruined by too many, extremely long commercial breaks. Why does FX make it such an ordeal to watch live? Better to record for next day viewing and zip through the ads. Ridiculous

Bokeem Woodbine is awesome in this.

Loved the scene in the typewriter shop. Great example of how you don't need graphic scenes to build tension and have a character come across as an intimidating dude. The brothers are an awesome touch as well - just that small step forward was fantastic. (I could only imagine what Kurt Sutter would do with that scene).
The grinder scene was very predictable, but I was glad that the finger slipping under the door was just a way to build the tension of that scene and not some gimmicky way to create action. |

I love the cinematography, too, although I'm already getting tired of the teal-and-orange color palette.

Thought it was a terrific hour plus of television with some great character moments. I just wish it wasn't on Monday night. It's hard for me to stay up that late on Monday. |
Re: Fargo (S2E02) -- "Before The Law" -- 10/19/15
Enjoyed this as well.
I guess last season we had the one guy who didn't talk, this season we have the brothers who don't talk (should we call them Daryl and Daryl?). The typewriter guy really gives me a Jerry Lundegaard vibe from the movie. Not only because he owes money and has a scam, but his mannerism when he was on the phone. Was reminiscent of Jerry's phone conversation at the dealership and his later conversation with Marge (ie. "I'm cooperatin' here!"). |

I think the only drama I watched live was the Breaking Bad finale, and that's only because I didn't want it spoiled for me on twitter. |

I agree with you and think if he gets more time in this series going forward, a Best Supporting Actor deal at the Emmy's is a possibility. He was great in Episode 2. |

What was that song during the end credits?

Re: Fargo (S2E02) -- "Before The Law" -- 10/19/15
Todd has boobs now.
Maybe it's from seeing him in Breaking Bad, but he can still send that scary vibe. Definitely not Lance from Friday Night Lights anymore. His wife is insane. SUCH a great show. |
Re: Fargo (S2E02) -- "Before The Law" -- 10/19/15
These first two episodes have been nothing short of fantastic. Love the ensemble, the style and the overall "weirdness" of it all (UFOs, narration, etc.). This week's episode made every extended minute count - not a dull moment.
Unfortunately, it's struggling to find an audience. http://headlineplanet.com/home/2015/...iewership-low/ Monday's "Fargo" drew fewer than 1 million live+same-day viewers. A week-over-week loss resulted in a new series viewership low for FX’s “Fargo.” Monday’s episode drew a 0.27 adults 18-49 rating with 962,000 viewers. Both numbers markedly trail those of last week’s season premiere, which posted a 0.48 with 1.588 million viewers. The episode easily ranks as the least-watched “Fargo” episode yet. Set a season one episode on May 27, 2014, the previous viewership low was a considerably stronger 1.515 million. This week’s adults 18-49 rating also ranks as a clear series low for the critically acclaimed series. |
