Fifth time is a charm! Finally a good episode! Although I still don't know the characters names ... Ruben Blades has proven to be the badass some have speculated on (and Kim Dickens is making some strides); the male lead is starting to come around; the daughter and other son had an interesting (though not productive) scene; and I still hate the lame-ass-impression-of-Heath-Ledger-junkie kid. Hell, the guy in his cell is a billion times more interesting than the kid already!
This may have been more interesting to focus on the military. The breaking of the ranks would have been a much more interesting story. I wish we had gotten four episodes of it instead of four lines about it.
It is unfortunate that this show has, in the long run, continued to prove the show runners in the TWD stable are either liars or incompetent. We were promised "the fall of LA" and instead we get four episodes of a daytime soap and the Occupation of a Local Neighborhood.
Can anybody explain to me why the guy who makes 20 seconds of unsettling racket gets an opening credit for creating the "theme song?"

Finally going towards a direction that makes sense, and yet they still felt very disjointed in terms of what the fuck is going on.
So it's come out that at least they're in the know of what is going on - in that the dead are walking among the living.
Or who knows... the show runner on this is complete shit in telling a story that actually makes any sense given the events that happened the episode before.

Wasn't "Cobalt" supposed to be the name for this show, or maybe it was just a working title for awhile?

That was actually a pretty good episode last night, but the problem continues that I don't care about any of these characters. Good lord, they are so unsympathetic, it reminds me of the Star Wars Prequels where I could care less about any of their fate.
Again, its only 6 episodes, so I am going to finish out the season and see how it ends next week.

I liked the new guy in the cell with Nick, but little else about this episode.
I'm not liking the standard cliche about the military being evil/can't be trusted. That dog is tired.

This show is terrible at sketching out the gaps. What happened to everyone in LA? Did the military just shoot them all? Did they take them to shelters and lock them in (like the stadium?) If they were just going to up and leave anyway, why bother with the fence?

I don't get it either. Why did they lock up the town if they're just going to leave? Why not just come in and kill everyone? Are they reporting to someone else? Why was that one guy so upset about what they were doing? Are they experimenting? I have too many questions.

The first installment of the 16-part web series Fear The Walking Dead: Flight 462 will coincide with Fear The Walking Dead‘s Season 1 finale on Sunday, October 4.
The online series is set to premiere on AMC.com October 4, and then air as promos during two commercial breaks within The Walking Dead season 6 premiere episode on Sunday, October 11. Subsequent episodes, each less than one minute long, will debut every Sunday, online and then on-air as promos during new episodes of The Walking Dead, for the duration of Season 6. In addition, one of the characters featured in the web series will join the cast of Fear The Walking Dead Season 2.
Fear The Walking Dead: Flight 462 tells the story of a group of passengers aboard a commercial airplane during the earliest moments of the outbreak. Over the course of the series, the plane and the lives of its passengers are put in jeopardy once they discover an infected traveler. The series is written by L. Signorino and Mike Zunic and directed by Fear director of photography Michael McDonough. Producers are Fear showrunner Dave Erickson and co-exec producer David Wiener.
“‘Flight 462’ is a great extension of the world of ‘Fear’ and will engage fans across multiple platforms with another riveting story set at the start of the fall of civilization,” said Joel Stillerman, president of original programming and development for AMC and SundanceTV. “We are thrilled to be collaborating with Dave Erickson and David Wiener on another piece of original content. Watching how they’ll bring one of these new characters to the second season of ‘Fear’ will be really exciting for viewers to follow.”
The Walking Dead companion series, Fear The Walking Dead explores the onset of the undead apocalypse through the lens of a fractured family in Los Angeles. The series is executive produced by Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero, David Alpert and showrunner Erickson and produced by AMC Studios. The series will return for a 15-episode second season in 2016.

And thus that beaten over the head airplane you saw in the first and third episode will finally have a story that no one gave a shit to see.

The show feels like it was hacked to pieces and reassembled numerous times. The story is a complete jumble with a bazillion holes leaving the character motivations too often making little sense, as though scenes are being shown out of order or just plain missing.
That said, for the last two episodes, I would estimate that about 25% is pretty good, 25% is passable, and the rest is sub-par -- which is an improvement over the first three episodes. And much of the sub-par portions would be improved by killing off the insufferably contrived teenagers.

Perhaps this show would be better suited to give us flashback sequences like Lost --- so we can finally care about someone / something.

Personally, I'm not in for this one. I'm not big on having to chase down extra content and frankly I don't see this as interesting or necessary.

So interesting that they're just cramming it in between commercial breaks.
It's as if AMC doesn't have the budget to invest. I mean, they don't have Mad Men, they don't have Breaking Bad any more. Where is all the money they got from those shows going?

So this show has elapsed probably 2 weeks since the 1st episode now. Why the F is Nick STILL wearing the ill-fitting clothes he stole off that old guy that was his hospital roomie? I know he hadn't been spending a lot of time at Madison's prior to the outbreak, but he should still have SOME clothes there. This has strangely bothered me more than anything else.

So the evil Army commander who looked like he was about to become the next Governor gets an off-screen death? Great writing, AMC!

This really isn't going anywhere. We miss all the good stuff that lead to where they're at now just so we have to be subjected to family drama and slow moving investigations - they should have just gone into full blown zombie apocalypse mode a few episodes back. It'll basically just make this TWD: LA... but it's better than what they gave us so far.
If the finale doesn't knock my socks off, I won't be tuning in next season.

Also, maybe I was misinterpreting, but I thought it was civilians the national guard was killing in the building and zombies came running out afterwards. Maybe not.

No, they were listening to radio traffic from another unit which was getting their asses handed to them. These guys were supposed to be the cavalry.
I think they actually fragged him. When they came out, they weren't too concerned with what just went down. They laid out a very specific plan for Travis (I remembered his name!) -- drop him a few blocks from his neighborhood and then they were headed back to their houses.
That poses more problematic story-telling. They must think their families are Ok, but the visuals are portraying a world wiped out already. Are they actually trapped behind combat lines?
