Good episode and more straightforward which was refreshing.
Saw Silence of the Lambs again last night and as much as I like Mads interpretation, Hopkins Lecter really captures the feral intensity and danger and his incredible insight and intelligence better. SOTL Lecter is truly frightening, Mads Lecter is more complex and sinister.

these Red Dragon episodes have been a bit of a bore for me. We all know this part of the story. The tiger... the eating of the painting... zzzzzzzzzz. It was nuts when Scully killed Spock tho.

I can see that, not breaking much new ground in the Red Dragon stuff almost feels like a true remake there instead of a re-imagining.

I already feel like this is the best interpretation of the material. Even though this episode had some of the same scenes we had seen before I think the writers and the actors sold the relationship of Dolarhyde and Reba better than it had been done in the movies. Red Dragon is probably my least favorite of the Hannibal stories So I'm glad they're still mixing in other plot threads with it. I believe after this show Silence of the Lambs and possibly Hannibal will be the only movies I'll rewatch.

Since Lecter got caught the show has lost a lot of steam. The Red Dragon stuff especially involving his girlfriend has been very boring.

Yeah, honestly, the Red Dragon stuff is just boring me, too. I've already seen this twice, with Manhunter and the Hopkins Red Dragon film, and, so far, this is pretty much just a straight-up adaption. Doesn't help that Armitage is so far the least "Tooth Fairy," behind both Noonan and Fiennes. Feels like they're dragging a two hour movie into a six hour miniseries.
I'm not sure if this was just rushed out because they knew the series would be cancelled and if they had something bigger in mind for adapting Red Dragon as season four, but at this point in time, I'm not feeling as bad about the cancellation as I was a few weeks ago.

Agreed that the Red Dragon stuff is really the same story we all know. I was hoping for some similar reworking like when they had Will in the cell, instead of Hannibal, earlier on. I'm not sure how they could do that with this story, but since they've done it before...
Red Dragon was probably my favourite book in the series, SOTL my favourite film, but I have really enjoyed them all, in both mediums.

So they were implying Scully killed Spock? It was really difficult to understand what they were doing in those scenes.
I too am feeling different about these Red Dragon episodes. Not bored, because so far I like this version better. But at the same time it does seem old hat. Especially when Mads was doing his best Brian Cox impersonation on the phone.

The scene was very odd. With spock choking on air and spitting up blood for no reason. She began by trying to clear the obstruction. What obstruction there would be, given the fact that he wasn't consuming anything, I dont know. Then she looked to be getting turned on by the fact that she was essentially killing him.

I am enjoying The Red Dragon story, just slightly less than anything that came before. It's not because it is a rehash, especially since I didnt like The Red Dragon movie, but because there is not as much Hannibal. I need a lot of Hannibal.
Still my favorite show on tv, I am going to be sad when it is over.

If they had gotten the rights to do Silence of the Lambs, I think this would have been an even bigger issue. Anthony Hopkins only had 16 minutes of screen time in the film. They probably would have had to add a storyline for the character to get much screen time with that story.
Saw Hannibal again tonight. Just do not like the direction Harris took with the book and the movie suffers from it and Foster's absence.
To be honest, if they could not get SOTL rights I am not sad the show is ending now. To go in it would really need Clarice.

I have thought this whole season is average at best and armitrage has face planted. When freaking Tara is a bright spot you know it's rough (Alana's transformation, rough time jump, etc)
I think it's missing the procedural aspect that helps balance Fuller's style.
I can't imagine revisiting this season and I thought season two was the best network season ever.

She was also slightly less annoying
in True Blood.
Anyone else notice that her hands look really old?

You really couldn't kill someone that way. It'd be nearly impossible to put your hand down someone's throat like that.
