Fet and Dutch grow closer as they clear out the neighborhood buildings, and Kelly begins her hunt for Zack. Teleplay by Bradley Thompson & David Weddle; directed by TJ Scott.

Good episode moving things along.
Spoiler:
Bolivar has obviously been foreshadowed to take over as the new master at some point.

Re: The Strain (S2E02) -- "By Any Means" -- 7/19/15

Decent follow up to last week, but definitely had some flaws. Liked seeing some more of the backstory from Setrakian in Vienna.

Eph's ex-wife lurking around with those Vampire kids trying to find her kid was a trip to watch.

Dutch and Fet skinny dipping and fooling around was a waste of time. But, their attack scene in the bathroom was cool with the silver grenades.

But this piece of dialogue was horrendous:

Dutch: “Why do I always end up as bait?”
Fet: “Because you look so appetizing.”
Dutch “That’s right, I do.”

Liked seeing Eph and Nora work on the old couple as they were turning. It was a pretty cold sequence, especially after Eph was pretty blunt and told them they were fucked. But I was glad that he didn't beat around the bush.

I don't get how Palmer can put on these really casual Press conferences for the Stoneheart Group in the middle of this vampire apocalypse.

Them explaining to the old couple at the beginning was really weird, since they almost killed them at the storage facility and then said "Wait, we need them." At the beginning of this episode, it suddenly seemed like they thought everything was ok, which was weird.

I also didn't see why what they were doing was supposed to be so awful. The couple was infected and inevitably going to die. The only thing they didn't do was put them out of their misery, but it's not like they intentionally caused their deaths or anything.

What was the purpose of bombing the Costco?

They weren't going to let Setrakian leave the building. Fet created the chaos so he could escape.

I'm not sure why folks cannot see that these things only come out at night, mostly, because they certainly can't come out in the day time, or they'll die. That's why I don't mind. They're all either sleeping underground or the Master is holding them back by a mind bond.

I read somewhere that there was one more scene with Kelly before it ended. The episode reportedly went 13 minutes over.

Yeah found out about it later after the post and forgot to edit. For whatever reason, we seemed to miss it.

what the fuck - FX Canada cut off the last 6 minutes when they aired this episode. I thought it ended when they left the warehouse, Fet shut the door and the episode started again...thanks to this thread for pointing it out.

Finally caught the last 5 minutes. Yeah, that was a neat way to end the show.

Stop acting like it's a rare thing for folks to be confused about how this is a pretty lack luster apocalypse, Why. This is a decent article about how carefree they are handling society breaking out of control.

And it's not like every shot of the day time has gun fire, police sirens or some other chaos going on in the background or anything.

This is one case where being a low-budget summer series on FX puts a crimp into effectively conveying the vampire apocalypse occurring in New York City. I will hand it to The Walking Dead, their production design is much better at showing the audience what life after the zombie apocalypse would really look like in the southern United States.

Another reminder why I hate children in Hollywood productions. They aren't just stupid, they're maliciously stupid (or will be, if Zach's astonishing and incomprehensible combination of idiocy and petulance are any indication) and put everybody around them in mortal danger. Cure mom? Maybe a five year old could believe that. Zach has seen combat with these monsters, believing crap like that should be beyond him.

Well.... my long term fantasy of seeing Keamy's bare ass finally came true.

Also, that kid playing the son is pretty atrocious.

Yeah, I completely dislike the way kids are always portrayed in these types of shows. :/ It's like they have no common sense and act completely without a brain just to add dumb drama to the show or make things go wrong for more fluff.

Hopefully Stoll backhands the shit out of him. He already got close when he shut him down this episode. He gave Zack that icy glass stare and was like "Asshole, I just chugged a shitload of vodka and I am not in the mood for your whining, so shut the fuck up."

I've got two kids at home and can confirm that they often have no common sense and act completely without a brain.

Of course, mine are both under 4 years old.

Another thing I don't like: "I was wrong about sunlight killing the Master". Apparently he's forgotten what actually happened, since it looked to me like the Master was getting pretty messed up by sunlight. Sure, it didn't instantly kill him, but why would you believe it would?

Re: The Strain (S2E02) -- "By Any Means" -- 7/19/15

It's tough to successfully integrate child and teen characters into a multi-generational drama. They work fine when the differing age groups don't have to mix. The kid is obviously being set-up to do something very stupid and endanger everyone's lives.
