Rumor: The CW developing Hawkgirl as TV series

http://www.spoilertv.com/2015/06/haw...ent-at-cw.html

SpoilerTV has learned that The CW is planning a separate Hawkgirl TV series starring Ciara Renée. The project is currently in very early stages of development. If The CW decides to move forward with it, it will most likely bypass the pilot stage and get a straight to series order.

It is unclear if the series will be set before or after the events of The CW's upcoming TV series Legends of Tomorrow, which also stars Ciara Renée.

SpoilerTV is the only one reporting this, so treat this as a rumor for now.

It sounds like a believable rumor, though I would be far more interested in a White Canary solo. I am only interested if this Hawkgirl is the living reincarnation of a Hawk god. We've seen the alien cop thing done before on a dozen different shows. First obligatory mention of Nth Metal.

If the CW wanted female leads for a superhero show, they should have chosen Fire and Ice.

DC's modern live action tv shows are mostly really good so far from what I've seen (aside from Gotham). I'd be interested in this, although I don't know a ton about the character.

How about a Black Canary series, just so they can write Laurel off of Arrow, and then cancel said Black Canary series after the pilot episode?

I actually dig this idea. I only cared for Hawkgirl mostly as a sideline for the mythos of the Hawkman. And I dug her in the cartoon.

What are some good Hawkgirl (and Hawkman) stories?

And shoot, Pat Benatar has already written the theme song. Win-win.

I can't remember very many individual Hawkgirl stories before Timm made her a JL mainstay in the cartoon for diversity's sake. After that, Johns used a slightly altered, non-attached-to-Hawkman-at-the-hip version for his JSA, and she eventually joined the JLA somewhere around the time Identity Crisis came out.

I'd personally rather have a Batgirl (or even Huntress) show.

Timm probably did more for Hawkgirl than just about every other comic book writer ever did for the character. I got the feeling that certain storylines were off-limits with Wonder Woman on the cartoons and so Hawkgirl got those storylines in her place.

I don't know anything about Hawkgirl, but yeah, she's already got a show with LoT, why not give another female a shot?

HAWKWORLD was a good mini-series follow by a series by Tim Truman.

Some Hawk arch-villains are: Gentleman Ghost, Hath-Set, Fadeaway Man, Matter Master, Shadow Thief, IQ, The Monocole, and Byth.
