Been reading alot about critics who got the first 3 episodes that this is underwhelming so far.
I've got my DVR set, in no rush to see this.

I'll watch but I think TD was a one tick pony. What made it so interesting was seeing two big Hollywood stars come to TV and give great performances. That show was never about the crime but about the two leads. It's hard to recapture that type of magic.

The 4 leads that they cast for season 2 are probably more B list than A list, but they still managed to get 4 fairly big name actors who are still relevant in features.
Not everyone in this forum loved season 1. I recall reading several comments here from people who thought it was too slow and boring & I think a few dropped it.
I liked season 1, but it was definitely a slow burn show and you needed to be extremely patient with it.
My Mother tried watching season 1 and she's a big scripted TV watcher like me, but she thought it was too slow and lost interest 2 or 3 episodes in.

The first series started brilliantly and ended somewhat disappointingly at the very end imo. Hopefully this will be the reverse. Looking forward to it.

I agree S1 got wrapped up a little too perfectly, but the ride was awesome despite a slow start. I'll definitely watch the whole season, even if it's painfully slow at the beginning (8 ep season makes it easy, not like you're investing 8 months into 24 episodes or something).

It's going to be really difficult to capture what they had in the first season with Harrelson and McConaughey. Vince Vaughn is one of those actors I can't stand to watch because it's like he's always playing Vince Vaughn (or the guy he played in Swingers).

^ And whenever he tries to do something serious he comes across more as awkward than anything else.

Well...that was rather dull.
Will stick with the season though.

I thought it was good, much better than I thought based on some of the comments here and around the internet. I think they set up a potentially interesting story. It's obviously quite a bit different than the first season but that's to be expected. I certainly don't think it was any worse than episode 1 of the last season.

I liked it, but there was a certain sense of reservation with it. I stick with it regardless, and hopefully it'll feel more like its own thing as the season goes on.

I have no idea what's going on. Way too many characters and plotlines to follow.

Eh definitely didn't hook me like episode one of season one. Too many characters and plotlines to follow. The atmosphere was great like the first season and the acting was good but something feels off about it. I'll stick with it through the season but I feel like season one may have been a lightning in a bottle thing that may not be recaptured.
Funny, McAdams' character was the only one I really liked so far. Farrell was pretty good too as a dirtbag cop. I do feel like the series is trying to make that character a darker Rust for this season though.

Velcoro: If you ever bully kids again, I'll come back and butt fuck your Father with your Mom's headless corpse on this lawn.
12 years old my ass, fuck you!

Farrell was great as the scumbag cop.
Paul's girlfriend is a hottie. Hope we see a little more of her later on.
Some really dark characters. Yes, there was a lot going on.
I disagree about McAdams being miscast. I think the miscast was the fatty playing Farrell's kid.
I actually found Vince Vaughn believable as the mobster businessman. Good change of pace for him.
It was cool seeing all the principal cast members except Vaughn linked together at the end.

Really enjoyed it, but there's definitely more characters to follow than last season, as Groucho alluded to.
Pizzalatto apparently loves drunks and hates bible bangers.

I really enjoyed it, dark show with depressed, alcoholic characters. I love the aerial establishing shots in this show, I'm glad they carried on that tradition. I like the departure this season is taking. The first was like lightning in a bottle, you can't make that a formula and be successful. I'm interested to see where this story is going.
