Sweet! I'm so glad this is back. It's funny cause I was very hyped for The Strain last summer and only watched this out of boredom......and then it turned out this was the awesome show of the two.

I lost interest mid-way through season 1 though continued to watch it in the background so don't remember all that transpired. Am willing to give it another chance. Will be tuning in tonight.

This show has taken every left turn when I would have hoped it took the right turn. I have no idea how they're going to reset the board after the way they ended it last season, but I guess I'll watch tonight just for that.

I'm just curious to see how they move the story forward. I thought the show's first season was very uneven and I didn't like the ending.

Thought it was a pretty decent start to the season, and the resolution was not rolling your eyes wirthy.

re: Tyrant (FX) -- Season 2 Thread -- premieres 6/16/15

If I didn't enjoy watching Jamal so much, I would stop watching this show. I said last season that the show had no balls and this episode proved me right. For a second, you thought it was going to happen but it became obvious with the mask that they were going to switch prisoners. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to spare his life from the gallows only to leave him in the desert unless deep inside you wanted him to survive which is a completely stupid thing for Jamal to do. And if he truly thought he was going to die in the desert, that is a much more cruel punishment than hanging him.

The focal point of the show should have switched from Bassam to Jamal. I would much rather watch Jamal deal with middle east issues than see Bassam survive and try to take his brother down again, which is where the season looks like it is heading.

I would expect to see massive changes in season two. The first season was wildly uneven and ended on a terrible cliffhanger.

That's what I said last year -- it basically does the obvious, taking no chances, and this episode was no different. It was obvious it wasn't Bassam under that mask. And it's obvious that he will survive - presumably hooking up with the rebels.

But if at least his family is back in the US, that alone makes things better.

re: Tyrant (FX) -- Season 2 Thread -- premieres 6/16/15

Just got back from vacation yesterday and watched this on FX Now tonight because I forgot to set the DVR.

Anyways, it was a decent start. Jamal was really the highlight of the episode. He really ate up his scenes. The resolution to Barry's fate was pretty anti-climatic and contrived because it was obvious he wasn't going to die. I just didn't quite get what Jamal was doing abandoning him out in the desert. I'm guessing he thinks that hanging him was too easy and he wants more of a challenge from him.

At least Molly and the kids are out of the way and back in the U.S. at the moment thinking that Barry is dead.

I thought it was interesting that they showed Jamal isn't a cold blooded leader and declined to use chemical weapons as his Uncle and the military wanted.

I liked it. What I didn't like was the preview for the season which looked about as formulaic as you could possibly get.

Re: Tyrant (S2E02) -- "Enter The Fates" -- 6/23/15

Just saw this last night.

Poor Bassam. Still stuck in the middle of nowhere. I know he's supposed to be the lead, but I really like seeing Bassam suffer. I'd like to see a major sand storm happen and bury him alive.

That plot to assassinate Jamal was hilariously flawed from the start. I when Ahmed started firing rounds at the dead assassins body.

At this point, I don't really care about Bassam or his family. Those scenes just dragged down the whole episode. The assassination plot story was far more interesting even though you knew Jamal wasn't going to be killed.

Yeah, I could care less about Bassam. Jamal is the interesting one.

Re: Tyrant (S2E03) -- "Faith" -- 6/30/15

they're telegraphing that lawyer/wife hook up so badly here. I do like what they're doing in this season that they didn't do in the last. Building up that shit.

Though I still can't figure out how Jamal's daughter in law could possibly be all thrilled and happy to play game night with the murderer of her father as well as her abuser/rapist. But hey, guess they swept that up under the rug.

The show has no balls. Barry should have been executed. Jamal should have killed his Uncle. I guess Thrones has ruined me.

Not to mention the Queen's sudden naiveté.

Actually I thought the Barry thing was in character for Jamal, though I was somewhat surprised he did not kill his uncle.

I think this season has been pretty solid so far. I guess mom already knew he was gay her reaction was interesting.

It helps that they brought the Islam angle into it. Never understood why they didn't last season.

Only thing that confused me about this episode is why they let Barry through the checkpoint with the guy's wife.
