Geez, I couldn't even bring myself to watch any of my other Sunday night shows after that. Best to just leave them for tomorrow and let this episode linger in my brain for tonight.

Any Ideas who the hooded guy was in the boat, with Thormund, Jon and Edd?

First episode in a long while that was of such high quality that we could re-watch it right away...the way Season One held us captivated.

Much of the focus of discussions will be on the battle, of course, but the other scenes were gripping...the dismissal of Ser Jorah, Theon's big reveal to Sansa, Tyrion's verbal jousting with Dany, Arya on a mission, Cersei desperately trying to maintain a shred of dignity...just great stuff all around.

This was the type of episode that made instant fans of people who'd never heard of the books. The absence of Pastoral Scenes from Dorne didn't hurt.

They blended in so well, I wouldn't have noticed otherwise.

As soon as she put the kids. On the boat, I'm sure everyone new the wildling priestess was going to be toast.

I thought the white walker at the end was going to freeze the water or something, I was actually a little disappointed that he was "only" raising the dead. Actually that scene seemed really odd to me, like the boat didn't make it that far off the shore.

I thought the Valyrian steel would parry the ice weapon but I didn't expect it to be able to wipe out a white walker. And they have more dragon glass at castle black, right? At the very least Stannis mentioned they have a bunch at Dragonstone?

If Dany is really going to be the queen, they have to do something great with her because I still just think she's annoying and not anything special (besides dragons). I feel like we're constantly being told how charismatic she is and I don't get it at all.

It shouldn't be surprising that Valyrian steel can shatter White Walkers considering all of the mentions about it throughout the series.

I think they forgot to have undead animals and giants. We have seen undead animals before so I would think they would have a bunch of them by now.

The whole point of that scene was to show boat that "nah, bitch, I just recruited all these mofos with a snap of my fingers to my side, WHAT NOW?!" show boating.

Come at me, brah.

What a great episode to already great season, as the payoffs this year are great. Theon and Sansa. Daenarys and Tyrion, and the White Walkers and Jon Snow.

I have had a few complaints about this season, but I hardly remember them at this point. This episode was perfection. I was wrong, you were right Game of Thrones.

I knew as soon as they made us like her. But yeah, the children clinched it. Also, the ones that attacked her were really well done!

My wife said the same thing about the boat. Forgivable, though, considering the overall awesomeness of the episode.

I think the White Walkers attacked because there was a large concentration of human there. Just easy picking for their undead army.

I've been saying this for years: one of the central themes of GoT is that nothing going on the Seven Kingdoms so far really matters. Devious operators like Tywin, Lady Olenna, Littlefinger all seem so powerful and interesting. We've enjoyed hating the evil Lannisters and Boltons. All of the tricky little plans, clever backstabbing and political intrigue seem so interesting, well thought out and all consuming. As this episode makes clear, none of this plotting and none of these clever characters will matter once the Army of the Dead bulldozers into the picture. All this crap we've been dealing with will just seem silly in retrospect.

We've had many hints that there's a bigger world out there with a long history (shots of Valyria, Bran's cave, Jojen's visions, Drogon's power). It's been strongly hinted that the inhabitants of the Red Keep and all of the other houses are petulent "summer children" who've forgotten about the true threats to the world (treating the Night's Watch as a joke, only keeping vague tabs on Dany etc). People have forgotten what winter's like in this world.

This episode is crucial because it was time to dramatically raise the stakes of this story. The show is through fucking around. After all, it's a Song of Ice and Fire not a Song of Throne Rooms and Minor Skirmishes.

I really loved this episode. It kept me completely on the edge, especially when Jon Snow was almost killed.
This is why I love GoT. Battles are always epic. Always.

So, Jon Snow killed a white walker just by his sword. Does that mean his sword is made up of Dragon Blade?

If he wanted to kill Jon Snow, he would have done it already. He had chance.
But he wanted to show his power. He wanted to show what was coming to them. And that raising the dead scene was epic.
