Haven't we seen Peggy smoke in the past?

Edit: I'll answer my own question, when she finally walks into McCan she is smoking.

I am beginning to think that we have seen the last of Peggy and Joan. I think their story arcs were concluded last week, and I really don't think they will be shoe-horned into the final 75 minutes...there's just too much to cover!

Yes, but she was not a heavy smoker like Don, Betty and Roger. She was more of a social smoker who would bum one of off someone.

No way a motel in Alva, OK has color TV in the rooms in 1970

Wiener has said in the past that actors who haven't smoked a cigarette in real life would not smoke on the show, due to looking authentic (e.g. Peggy, Pete).

So Elizbeth Moss started smoking in real life around Season 4?

Peggy is not a chain smoker like Don, Roger and Betty, but she smokes.

Joan, maybe, but I guarantee that we'll see some Peggy in the finale. I'm pretty sure we'll see every character to some extent in the finale.

Feel free to draw that conclusion. This is something I read in 2009 or so, and obviously things can change, especially considering Peggy's overall arc.

I actually think the stuff with Don on this road trip is the best part of these last few episodes. I'm interested to see where it goes.

Yep, I remember reading that as well.

Back then, nearly everyone smoked.

Haven't seen Wojciehowicz in a while.

I was wondering during the course of the series if someone will eventually get lung cancer with all the smoking going on. Poor Betty. It was tough watching Henry break down like that.

Liked how they showed that even in the early 70s a woman's role was still not as important as the man's. The first doctor wouldn't discuss Betty's medical condition with her unless her husband was present... and the the second doctor discussed it with Henry while Betty is by herself totally being ignored. It's only her life - she doesn't need to be involved or anything.

Glad they gave Pete more screen time this week. He was severely underused this 2nd half of the season.

Hate that Peggy and Roger weren't around. I suspect they'll both be in the finale... since I can't see them being absent two episodes in a row - plus they're both major characters... especially Peggy - IMO, her and Don are the two anchors of the show.

We only had about 1 minute of office-time - but I guess at this point the office is no longer that important since it's a McCann setting now.

Just stellar. I'm also thinking we've seen the end of Peggy and Joan and Pete.

They don't smoke real cigarettes on the show. I recall Jon Hamm saying that due to California work place regulations, they aren't allowed to. So, they smoke herbal cigarettes.

I don't know what to expect of the finale.

I don't think we have seen everything of Peggy. I'm OK if they don't show Betty's death. This was her goodbye.

I wonder if they really are going to end it in current times.

It was in reference to a comment about the characters not smoking if the actors never did.

Current times being the current time in the show not having anymore time skips? Or current time as in 89 year old Don Draper and 76 year old Peggy Olson?

I'm not basing this on anything, but I feel that if they do a time jump (which I think has a 50/50 chance), they won't be jumping to current times, maybe the '80s or the '90s, but not now.

.

I still believe Don and Peggy will be linked somehow at the ending (not romantically).

I would love to see these characters in the 1980's.

I am satisfied with Betty's ending, but I think the only thing they missed the boat on is that she never aged or lost her looks at all. They toyed with the idea when she gained all that weight, but she ended up as beautiful and perfect looking as she always did.

I think her character arc would have been more tragic if the producers had started to age her somewhat. She looked practically the same age as the college students. I would have liked to see a character like Betty struggle to realize she is losing her looks and it would make her bravery in the face of death seem more real (ie she realizes her looks are all she has had and she doesn't mind not growing old if it means she will always be remembered as beautiful.)

That's weird. Not even good weird, just weird weird. Mad Men isn't a ratings getter, it never has been, and it's safe to say it never will be. But it's still a financial success overall, thanks in part to that $100m+ deal they have with Netflix.

It's not for ratings, but out of some sort of respect. TVLand did the same thing when the Seinfeld finale aired (and has apparently done similar things for Everybody Loves Raymond and Friends).
