Yes. Historically, a marriage wasn't valid until it was consummated. When marriages, particularly among nobles, were made for political reasons this was a huge deal. Back in the Middle Ages, when a couple was married, representatives of the families involved were allowed to watch the newly married couple fuck in order to have proof that the marriage was indeed consummated. (There was a scene in The Borgias where this actually happened.)

This whole time I thought Roose was just a dick like Tywin and Stannis, but after he told that raping story, that's when I realized he's a fucking psycho like his son.

With their house sigil and words, it wasn't evident that they were always a bit psycho?

I think they had this bedding ceremony at the Red Wedding as well. That is why Edmure Tully was led off and survived the massacre but I think is being held captive by the Freys.

This was also represented during the "Red Wedding", when after Edmure Tully gets married to Walder's Frey's one decent-looking daughter, they are immediately escorted out of the hall, to the bedroom. I don't remember if there were witnesses or not, but it does emphasize the importance of the consummation.

I think that is actually still true today. If the marriage is never consummated you can get an annulment.

On the show:

Spoiler:
Sounds like they are going to do the Citadel storyline with Sam. Pretty surprised.

I want him to decide to have a little hunt using Sansa. I want Ghost to take out his mutts one at a time and just when Ramsey is about to catch her, I want Ghost to take him apart one limb at a time.

It would be nice not to have to deal with that 2 week break.
Something major happening would make the two week wait worth it. They have a lot of work to do with only 5 episodes left.

Jon can't do it himself, but he could probably warg into Ghost and pay a little visit to Winterfell...

(Shit... Can't remeber if Jon can warg in either the series or the books... There are so many fan theories about Starks warging that I can't remember whether or not anyone other than Bran can do it.)

I wonder why Sansa hasn't tried to send a message to her brother Jon at The Wall. You know, a simple "Hey I'm here at home again! Surrounded by psychos so would you mind sending an army here?" type of thing.

Spoiler:
Bran, Jon, and Arya are for sure in the books. Bran is the only one that can control it, Jon and Arya can't and mostly do it in their sleep.

Couldn't be consummated either.

She doesn't know he's in a position to do that, though. She probably assumes he's a rank-and-file soldier.

Does anyone else think Sansa has really aged since the series began. She has crow's feet and she looks like she's in her mid-30s. Maybe it's the dark hair, dreary clothes and matronly hairstyle.

Yeah, I remember that scene. And it even seemed to me like a flaw in the whole "Red Wedding" double-crossing scheme because it essentially assumed that Robb, his wife, and Catelyn wouldn't participate in the Bedding Ceremony. If they did participate and left with everyone else, the plot to fill them full of arrows in the dining hall after everyone else was gone and once "The Rains of Castamere" song was played kind of falls apart.

He couldn't do it anyway. The Nights Watch doesn't involve itself in the internal politics of the Seven Kingdoms. Its mission is to guard the Wall and keep the stuff on the other side of the Wall over there.

Her height also makes her look older since she towers over many of the men. But she does look like a young woman rather than the little girl of the books (which probably works out for any plans to have her scheming/manipulating).

But Sophie (age 19) does look more like a contemporary of Margaery, and Natalie Dormer is 33.

Sansa, Brienne, and... is that Tyrion?
Damn, didn't realize Kit was that short.
