Re: Arrow (S3E21) -- "Al Sah-him" -- 4/29/15

So Oliver almost certainly will get Nyssa pregnant while brainwashed, won't he? I thought it was funny they brought up making a costume for Diggle. They dropped Black Canary's scream into the action without calling much attention to it. I guess something got cut out mentioning her new power. I would have thought another character would mention its use.

I don't mind if Nyssa hangs around after Ra's al Ghul leaves the show. Laurel continues to get beat in fights, they can pull back now on her getting kicked around by every two-bit hood. I would hope next season they finally start moving towards Oliver and her romantically getting together.

With every facial reaction Oliver has, something tells me he isn't under any spell.

Her new power came from The Flash episode. Which seemed like it should have been given at least something of an explanation.

Writers need to learn it makes no sense that Laurel can handle the League of Assassins, but get her ass beat by street thugs.

Yeah I think Ollie is faking it just to get in close and destroy the League.

This is probably the first episode of the series that I legitimately didn't like. This storyline is going nowhere fast. And how Laurel can alluva sudden hold her own against lifelong assassins after five weeks is beyond me.

They should have recast Wild Cat so that the character could continue training her. Instead, she had a long period of non training followed by a few booty calls with Nissa that imbued her with some fighting ability. Then again, sex with Felicity is what allowed the Atom to finally fly so perhaps sex with really hot girls gives you varying degrees of super powers in this universe.

So are we going to get Damien Dahrk as the baddie next year?

as soon as they started introducing people with super powers, it was clear that a show about a normal guy shooting arrows was going to be lame by comparison... (Hawkeye I'm also looking at you).

When did Thea become a super-archer? We've only seen her do hand-to-hand combat training.

Well that was interesting. At least now the flashbacks to Tokyo make sense given was Ra's is asking Oliver to do.

Sure, they tried to tie it all together (similar how they tied the mind control drug used on Thea to one of the flashbacks a while ago) but that was sloppy at best.

There is a descent premise buried in this season. Unfortunately, these writers aren't good enough to properly flesh it out.

It depends on how well you use him.

I guess, it took long enough to get to this point. You can tell the show's editor has been valiantly trying to keep the flashbacks as brief as possible in the flow of action in the past few episodes.

So how long before Thea goes around as a hero known as Speedy? I thought it was funny when Felicity asked her how she got in to the lab and Thea told her "Duh, my dad is a super-villain."

Damn, Al Sah-him is kind of a dick.

I am curious if this storyline will be wrapped by the finale. Amell seemed pretty excited about these last few episodes when he appeared on his Facebook feed.

He gets excited about EVERY episode. And practically says every one is the "best thing they've ever done" or that they've "never done anything like this before".

Yeah we didn't see it - but you had to know that Malcom being a super-archer himself - was going to teach her to also shoot an arrow.
We also did see her kill Sara with an arrow (well half-kill as the fall from the building probably help in her dieing) so we knew then she had some training shooting arrows.

Re: Arrow (S3E21) -- "Al Sah-him" -- 4/29/15

I am sort of disappointed how dreary and dumb this show has become. I DO NOT want to see a crying, maudlin Felicity. I want to see sassy intelligent upbeat foot in her mouth Felicity. I do not want to see red-shirt League of Assassin members. WTF? Is Raz and Nissa the only league members who can fight?
Super archer Thea? So the rival for Oliver was Nissa and not Damien Dahrk? That was unclear. At least they acknowledged that Diggle fights sans any type of identity protection.

I just don't care about this storyline. The morality is so muddled. Ollie kills people, even in the no kill version, ALL THE TIME, yet he joins the League and he has "lost his soul". That would work if Arrow NEVER killed anyone, but has ZERO impact the way it is now.

Ugh....I almost want Ollie to just kill everyone. They have all become boring, maudlin and melodramatic.

Re: Arrow (S3E21) -- "Al Sah-him" -- 4/29/15

Eh I see I'm in the minority but I actually liked this episode for the most part.

- Matt Knable may not like like him but I'm starting to like him as Ras Al Ghul. He definitely has that RAG presence and I'm enjoying him quite a bit.

-Cool seeing the Canary Cry in action. Course that then led to the plot hole of why didn't she use it during the exchange with Nissa.

-I always knew Thea would become a hero but her showing up during the exchange was a big "Meh". Just not interested in seeing her that way.

-So Laurel can't take out a common street thug but she can take out two members of the league of assassins? Ok.

-So the league searches out Malcom for the earthquake machine and using it to destroy Starling but now Oliver's next task is to destroy Starling. OK.

I still liked it because of how different it was but it did leave me with a lot of "ok's" while watching it.

I thought the episode was pretty good. I think everyone realizes that Oliver won't be a mindless assassin for very long. This show is now fighting against expectations created from last season and The Flash.

They also mentioned her being an archer in season one and she had an archery trophy in her room as far back as the first episode.
