"Tricksters" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-PG, V) (HDTV)

MARK HAMILL ("STAR WARS") REPRISES HIS ROLE AS THE TRICKSTER - A copycat killer who goes by the name "The Trickster" (guest star Devon Graye) starts setting off bombs in Central City. In order to stop the villain, Barry (Grant Gustin) and Joe (Jesse L. Martin) meet with the original Trickster, a criminal mastermind named James Jesse (guest star Mark Hamill), who has been imprisoned for 20 years. Things quickly go from bad to worse when the Tricksters unite and take Henry (John Wesley Shipp) prisoner. Meanwhile, Iris (Candice Patton) asks Eddie (Rick Cosnett) for help with a case, and flashbacks show how Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) came up with the idea for the particle accelerator. Ralph Hemecker directed the episode written by Andrew Kreisberg (#117). Original airdate 3/31/2015.

Can't wait to watch this on Hulu tomorrow. :)

So James Jesse was an adversary of the Flash 20 years ago so there
must have been a Flash in this "universe" then too?

I haven't read a Flash book in forever. Has Thawne done that in the books?

Giving Mark Hamill the line "I am your father" = 10/10

Maybe in this continuity the Trickster faced off against Jay Garrick?

That was another monumental episode. This show has been a revelation in its first season, blazing a path that few comic book superheroes have ever gone before on television. It almost makes up for the ten years of misery I suffered having to follow Smallville...almost. I loved the Trickster, they need to bring him back. He's been the best villain so far after the Reverse Flash.

We got Barry vibrating through a solid object.

And now non-comic readers know how Reverse Flash killed Cisco in that other timeline.

A neat explanation for some of the pseudo-science behind the Flash's various powers.

Fantastic episode. What an amazing first season we're getting.

hanshotfirst1138 03-31-15 11:02 PM

I missed the first batch of episodes and haven't been able to catch up as a result because Hulu only goes back so far, hopefully Netflix will put this up, it's high on my to-watch list.

Fuck, that was a great episode! And in completely nerdy fashion, I teared up when Barry vibrated through the truck. Mark Hamill was still great as the Trickster. I was surprised to see Vito D'Ambrosio as Mayor Bellows - He played Officer Tony Bellows in the original show! And that teaser for the remainder of the season - DAMN!!

Season Two has some big footsteps to follow.

Great episode. I didn't really expect Barry to reveal his flash identity to Eddie. Since I don't read the comics at all, most of the other plot developments were new and interesting to me.

That was so awesome. I was hoping they would let Hamill go into a full on Joker laugh but sadly that wasn't mean to be. Great episode.

Solid episode. Proves Hamill should have been given more than just voice gigs a long time ago.

Hamill's Trickster was the first performance I felt that struck the right balance between psychotic madman and comic book villain. I hope he comes back in the future.

I don't think that is the last we'll see of the face-changing technology. That was pulled from the comics, albeit in a different form.

He prefers voice gigs (as do most actors). No wardrobe or makeup to deal with. You show up, record your lines throughout the day, and go home. Voice work is a highly coveted profession for actors and very difficult to break into.

That's making a virtue out of necessity. He pretty much had to do voice gigs after the accident trashed his face.

Mark fuckin' Hamill. He delivered so many great lines, and ever scene he was in was great. I hope he's in many more episodes, perhaps part of the rogue gallery?

Mark Hamill was great. It was an over the top performance, but delivered perfectly by Hamill.

Barry might as well let Iris know he's the Flash. I think she's the only one left now who doesn't know. The look on Eddie's face when he found out was priceless.

I just noticed that the guy who plays Victor Zsasz in Gotham is in that sizzle reel. Surely he's not playing the same character. Or has he been on this show before?

I could buy that, but then, why switch now?

And yeah, his face looks fine.

25th Century (Thawne and Booster Gold were neighbors.:D).

Great episode. I loved the opening scene showing them running on the walls in the Allen's house. It looks like Barry will soon become just as fast as Thawne.

Appears that Flash & Arrow's timelines are screwed up, the next episode of the Flash takes place before this week's Arrow.

More proof the suits at WB are utterly clueless about superheroes. Having a show about the Flash would have been terrible without superpowered villains...

That's what we go through every week, and it's funny becuase Warner Bros. has been so incredibly supportive obviously to do Arrow and The Flash but then as soon as we say, "Okay, we're going to have the villains on," they're like, "Ehh..."

They kind of get worried about the villains being too cartoony or they look back and it's like the Batman '66 stink. We said, if The Flash can move at super-speed, he can't just be fighting bank robbers. Or if he is fighting bank robbers, they have to be able to do something pretty special.

Awesome. Great twist with Dr. Wells. Never crossed my mind he was an imposter.

Mark Hamill was awesome and the I am your Father line...

Really surprised they brought Eddie into the mix.

Re: The Flash (S1E17) -- "Tricksters" -- 3/31/15

I did like that Eddie questioned the logic of keeping Iris in the dark. Too often everyone in these type of shows automatically agree that such decisions are a good idea when they can oftentimes lead to bigger problems (and usually do, for the sake of artificial drama).

I honestly feel that they're embracing the multiverse theory, and that the original show is an alternate timeline to this one. Lots of differences, but still enough similarities to possibly be more than just a big wink to the fans.

I suspect they're going to tie Eddie knowing into how Eobard Thawne finds out Barry's the Flash. Maybe Eddie passes down a journal that stays in the Thawne family, or something like that. (Yes, I know in the DCU in the future it's common knowledge that Barry Allen is The Flash).

The way this series is going, by the premier of season two, all of Central City will know Barry Allen is the Flash.

Wally West's identity was public knowledge for years in the comics, so the above is not completely out of left field.
