Fucking great episode.

I just watched it...twice. Phenomenal.

I'll echo the sentiment: amazing episode. Emmy-worthy stuff by Jonathan Banks. When they went between shooting him straight-on and then in profile, it looked like different actors. He looked looked gaunt straight-on, and like some old king from a Shakespeare play from the side.

 Brilliant episode. Banks was awesome. Hard to believe this wasn't a Gilligan written/directed episode.
Loved the back story on Mike. It was so dark, depressing, yet extremely compelling. This was written by Gordon Smith, who was a former assistant/office PA/writers assistant on Breaking Bad. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3298114/ Huge promotion for the guy to get a chance to write this kind of episode. |

Emmy.
Yep, it was that great. |

Shocker....another awesome episode. This is quickly becoming my favorite thing on TV right now.

I'm still laughing over that "Juan Valdez bump and dump" line.

Wow. Just powerful and amazing and yes, Emmy worthy.

Re: Better Call Saul (S1E06) -- "Five-O" -- 3/9/15
I enjoyed the episode alright and the acting was solid. However, I'm not calling any awards as a result. It was satisfying finally to learn more of Mike's back story as that had been conspicuously overlooked within BB,perhaps due to story telling priorities.
I'm really enjoying BCS and consider myself lucky that the (back) story continues on. Odenkirk plays a compelling and thoroughly entertaining lead character. I'm very much looking forward to finding out how they unravel and reveal how the back stories eventually flow into the origins of BB, which will hopefully provide more meaning and richness to what was presented during the roughly 2 years that BB's characters ran. |

Wow, great stuff. I was so absorbed, it felt like only 15 minutes had gone by and then the end credits started.

Re: Better Call Saul (S1E06) -- "Five-O" -- 3/9/15
Great episode. IMO, BCS season 1 is better than BB season 1 so far.
|
Re: Better Call Saul (S1E06) -- "Five-O" -- 3/9/15
That's an interesting opinion I hadn't thought of. I think the premise of BB Season 1 is much more compelling, but the execution of BCS is better and more polished.

Re: Better Call Saul (S1E06) -- "Five-O" -- 3/9/15
Finally a great episode. First three episodes could have been edited into one episode. Episode 2-3 were terrible. Episode 4 and 5 were solid.
Banks will win an emmy. |
Re: Better Call Saul (S1E06) -- "Five-O" -- 3/9/15
Just watched this and yeah, arguably the best of the season thus far. Just great all around. Side note: hadn't seen Lane Garrison in a while. Not since Prison Break I think. Looks like he's able to resume his career after his brush with the law.

Kerry Condon is much more attractive with her natural accent BTW |
Re: Better Call Saul (S1E06) -- "Five-O" -- 3/9/15
I guess i'm alone in that I didn't care for the Mike centric episode at all... until those last 10 minutes or so as he explained everything. That was pretty great, with range and character I don't recall seeing from Mike at all previously which left me very impressed.

One logistical thing doesn't sit right with me. What is Matty's wife doing living in ABQ when he and his dad are working Philly PD?

Re: Better Call Saul (S1E06) -- "Five-O" -- 3/9/15
Did you not pay attention at all? He died and thus she moved to ABQ. He retired soon after that - a week later, and then went on his revenge kick and followed his only family out to ABQ.
One logistical thing doesn't sit right with me. You using "logic". ;) |

Re: Better Call Saul (S1E06) -- "Five-O" -- 3/9/15
The "bad" cop specifically said that she moved there after Mike's son died.
http://blogs.amctv.com/better-call-s...ikes-son-matt/ Matt killed, 1 week later Mike retires, 3 months later stacy moves to abq. 3 months later cops killed. 1 day later Mike leaves philly. Ignore the snarky tone if you want, but don't act like something you didn't pay attention to that didn't sit right with you was glossed over, because it was explained and the hardass cop did lay out the time frame to which Mike responded to it. |
