THE AMAZING RACE, 10-time Emmy Award Winner for Outstanding Reality-Competition Series, sends 11 teams on a trek around the world. At every destination, each team competes in a series of challenges - some mental and some physical - and when the tasks have been completed, they learn their next destination. Teams who are farthest behind will gradually be eliminated as the contest progresses, with the first team to arrive at the final destination winning at least $1 million.

No, this is not a mistake. The Amazing Race is indeed premiering tonight.
Another new episode airs on Friday, it's regular timeslot.

I saw that TAR was premiering tonight and thought CBS had moved it again, to Wednesdays to pair with Survivor, but I guess not. I actually would prefer that instead of Friday's.

Yeah, it would be cool to have Survivor and Amazing Race back to back every week on the same nights. I bet you CBS will be looking at the numbers tonight to see how they work together.

I prefer them spread out. It's fine the the premiers but I'm glad TAR is going back to Fridays.

I'll have to skip this one unless it's on DTV's on-demand. Wednesday 9-10p is loaded for me - already have to watch Empire on FOX on-demand.

CBS on demand should have the premiere after it airs, but unfortunately they are only in standard def.

Wait, we have a three-hour block of Survivor/TAR tonight? I thought the OP was just excited to post the first episode.
Need to check the DVR and clear some space.

Yeah, Survivor always took a hiatus when it was on Thursdays. They might have run an occasional (shudder) clip show.

Actually a cool gimmick for once.
I also wish this would air after Survivor every week. I have skipped the last several Amazing Races but watched it due to the time. I might stick around this time.

The team I started rooting for halfway through the episode won the leg. I'm sticking with the lawyers. Good teamwork.
That navy surgeon doesn't seem interested in the nurse. That's a shame. She seems great.

I feel sorry for the guys in suits because they did every attempt. SWITCH TASKS!
Truck Stop team did the smart thing by using the U-Turn.
[edit]The selfie cam has to go.

OMG, is that nurse chick annoying. I can totally see why surgeon boy doesn't like her. She would drive me CRAZY.
I didn't think the lawyers would be a good match, but they're working out great so far.

I was a little burned out after three hours of watching, but back-to-back hours might not be bad.
I thought the dancing was pretty cool. Maybe those guys had subs who swapped in? I hope so.
I felt sorry for the older team and hoped they might pull it out after the other team got lost. But the fact that the other team was already gone when they arrived made me assume it wasn't as close as the edit made it appear.

Yeah, that's par for the course for the last two teams to arrive...the editing always makes it look closer, when - in most likelihood - they were hours apart.

It was pretty bizarre that not one of those teams thought to switch to the saki challenge, especially considering the sheer number of teams at the dance challenge and how many were in the 20+ attempt range. The description must have been written to make it sound much more daunting than it actually was, because at worst you have nine attempts to fail unless both team members are absolutely awful at memory.

When I heard the description on the show, it sounded like they'd need to match TEN sake orders. But they only needed to match ONE order. You're right...at worst you could just go back 10 times and eventually you'd match the right bottle with the order (assuming you were still allowed to look at the original 10 set up out front). How long would the longest attempt take...MAYBE 15 minutes?

I liked this first episode. They seemed to cast likeable people so far. There is a good chance of this being train wreck television with the blind date couples, but most of them seemed to do really well in the first leg.
If I was running this leg, I would do the sake challenge since most dance challenges seem to take forever to complete.
I wonder if they're going to play the right stuff every time Jonathan and Harley reach the mat?
