RIP Leonard Nimoy (1931-2015)

Leonard Nimoy was rushed to the hospital after severe chest pains prompted a 911 call ... TMZ has learned.
Law enforcement sources say the legendary "Star Trek" star was transported to UCLA Medical Center last Thursday.
We're told paramedics weren't taking chances with Captain Spock and got him in front of a doctor ASAP. Nimoy's been in and out of hospitals multiple times in the last few months.
Nimoy announced he was suffering from COPD back in 2014, and even though he quit smoking more than 30 years ago ... he blames his illness on decades of lighting up.
We've reached out to Nimoy's rep for comment ... but no word back yet.

Do I want to start a geek argument over their usage of "Captain Spock?"

Nah... I'll let someone else do it.

Well, he was a Captain as of Star Trek VI. After that, an ambassador, but I think Starfleet would still address him as Captain. Maybe.

In the US Navy, I believe retired active duty officers may continue to use their ranks ... so it's likely Spock would still be addressed as "Captain Spock" (see below)

It's certainly a greater sign of respect than referring to him as "you mutinous, disloyal, computerised half-breed" or "a simpering, devil-eared freak whose father was a computer and his mother an encyclopedia" or "an overgrown jackrabbit, an elf with a hyperactive thyroid"

At least they didn't refer to him as "Dr. Spock."

Sorry, not interested in a reality tv show that follows Leonard Nimoy to the hospital each week. Boring!

How many cast members have passed?

From my memory and what I've found online, he had the rank of captain in Star Trek 2:TWOK.

Hoping for the best.

It was such a thrill when he started appearing on Fringe. Hard to believe it's been almost 6 years ago now since that first season finale.

Aye, Captain.
Spock, promoted to captain, is commanding officer of the Enterprise at the beginning of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982).

Kirk looks around uncomfortably, overlaps:
KIRK: Where are you off to, now?
SPOCK: The Enterprise. I must check in before your inspection. And you?
KIRK: (shortly) Home.

From the TV series, three: De Kelley, James Doohan and Majel Barrett.

If you include the top-billed stars from the films, you have four more: Persis Khambata, Ricardo Montalban, Bibi Besch and Merritt Buttrick. Sadly, apart from Montalban, the film actors died far too young.

I'm just glad they got the transporter working in time. LOL

In all seriousness, I wish him the best of luck and hope for a speedy recovery.

Yes, that is correct, Captain in Star Trek II and still Captain in Star Trek VI. Unlike his co-workers, he wasn't on trial/in risk of losing his rank for the stealing of the Enterprise.

Nimoy should mind meld his katra into Shatner before it's too late...although it would be hard to tell if Shatner suddenly seemed to go crazy.

Holy shit this sucks. I knew the day would come when he (along with other childhood heroes) would pass away but still wasn't prepared for it.
