The Walking Dead (S5E09) -- "What Happened and What’s Going On" -- 2/8/15

After all the recent trials the group has faced, a slight detour might prove to be the solution they've been looking for.
Episode 9 of 16
It's back!!

I binge-watched the entire series during it's mid-season break, so I'm all caught up. Looking forward to it.

I'd like to see something different for the second half of this season. I enjoy the show, but it's become very repetitive.

The opening 2 minutes of tonight's episode from AMC's YouTube channel:

I read something that seemed to indicate that
is still gonna happen. I'm not sure I get the point of that?

Where else are they gonna go? In reality an isolated, sparsely populated area surrounded by water would probably be the safest bet, but that'd get boring so they probably need to head somewhere where maybe they can have an endgame.

No spoilers, but I predict the back 8 to have 2-3 good episodes with 1 of them being really good. The remainder will be filled with lots of boring dialogue spoken in bad Southern accents.

I would love for the show to open with a flash forward showing Rick and crew on their knees while a man with a barbed-wire wrapped baseball bat menaces them... And then build the rest of the season up to that moment.
Maybe that's how they'll open season six.

Good riddance to Tyreese. He's been deadweight for a while and continually put the rest of the group at risk.
EDIT: Kind of thought they were going to save him, but I'm glad that didn't happen. They really shouldn't overuse amputation to save people from becoming Walkers. With Herschel the amputation was so fast it sort of made sense. Although now that I'm thinking about it...if everyone is already infected then what does it matter getting bit once as long as the Walker doesn't go for the throat or hit any major arteries?
Thought it was a pretty "meh" episode to have open the second half of the season. I did like the use of deceased characters in Tyreese's hallucinations though.
And now for a nitpick...
Honestly, these people are just so stupid sometimes. What the hell was the thought process in opening the gate and letting the zombies rush in? I know they were in a hurry to get Tyreese back to the vehicle but why not just stab or shoot them THROUGH THE OPENING IN THE GATE before completely opening it? I can forgive a lot of things, but that was on par with when they went into the flooded basement and Bob ended up getting bit.
Oh well, on to bigger and better things: Better Call Saul

Anytime Chris Hardwick announces a "very special guest" on that night's "Talking Dead" you know someone is going to die. Thanks Hardwick.

is it so hard to tie rolled up magazines to your arms and legs as armor?
