Marvel's Agent Carter (S1E05) - "The Iron Ceiling" - 2/3/15

"The Iron Ceiling" - Peggy is finally trusted with a mission and calls upon her trusted Howling Commandos squad for backup. But her cover could be at risk when SSR Chief Dooley also sends Agent Thompson with her, on "Marvel's Agent Carter," TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 3 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Still boring. Is there a light shortage in 1940something?

I wish there was as much as in that pic up there.

Loved it! Peggy is a kick-ass character and I'm glad they are expanding her universe.

The little girl snapping her sparring partner's neck, followed by another little girl taking out 2 Howling Commandos was pretty nuts.

Interesting that her fellow agent turned out to be such a coward.

And it was awesome having Dum-Dum back. A great way to revisit that character.

I thought the episode was pretty good, I like that the plot is moving along and i'm genuinely curious what happens next, especially given the preview. The russian girls were pretty wild. And I liked seeing the Commandos; were the same ones from the movie? They all seemed different, outside of Dugan.

Great episode. I wasn't to happy with the show at first but it has been getting better fast. When I first heard about the show I thought it would mainly be in the mist of war with Carter leading the the howling commandos.

Good episode but two howling commandos getting killed by children however skilled they may be was stupid and insulting to the howling commandoes

I may be wrong but one was an SSR agent and the other got shot in the leg but was seen alive later in the episode.

You're right, one of them was an SSR agent. And I chalk the first Commando going down as "no one expected the little girl to stab Dum-Dum, steal his gun and shoot the first person she saw."

She shot 3 people - killed one howling commando (the young one), killed an SSR agent (the asian one), and wounded another howling commando in the leg (Happy Sawyer)

Side note...Happy was played by Leonard Roberts, who played Forrest on Buffy. The Whedonverse continues to employ their favorite actors!

And as I was watching, I was thinking "is this Tripp's grandfather?" As far as I know, his grandfather was never named on AoS - so it could be Happy or Gabe Jones at this point (or any of the white guys, too, I guess )

aside from the obvious Howard and Tony Stark , what other characters in this show have connections with modern day Marvel characters ?

I'm just not familiar with this era from the comics

I was curious if they were going to mention this connection too.

This was fun. I wish they had gotten to this part of the story sooner. Four weeks of Peggy and Jarvis' scavenger hunt for Stark's missing junk was a bit much.

I like how they're finally starting to flesh out these SSR guys. They were coming across as thugs.

So is Dotty an early Black Widow, or just trained in the same ways? Have there been other Black Widows in the comics?

There were at least two in the modern day, the redheads and a blonde one who appeared at the beginning of the New Avengers book I read in the Savage Land.

This sort of thing ain't my bag, baby.

After an excellent pilot, this series has bored me to tears. It is exactly what I feared it was, Alias set in the 1940s based off a very fringe Marvel character. Call me if the Red Skull pops up with a Captain America clone or something.

I would be very surprised if we got more of Agent Carter as its own show.

i think the reason it is a period piece Alias type show and not a typical comic book show is why many people might like it

I prefer full on comic book heroes personally

I'm wondering if the show wasn't originally conceived as a longer series; the plot set up in the pilot: track down Stark's stolen weapons tends to lend itself towards a "weapon of the week" type show format. When the show got picked up as a limited series, it's possible the writers decided to go far more serialized, and the episodes before this were a sort of course correction.

The show creates a timeline problem for the Starks, since if Howard is Tony's father Tony would be ~70 years old in the modern day. If you want to keep Tony in his 40s Howard now has to be Tony's grandfather.
