Re: Schitt's Creek -- S: Eugene Levy, Catherina O'Hara

We just started it and are in seasoned two. I get why it's funny and I do laugh, but I'm not dying over it like a lot of my friends. Most of them basically know Eugene Levy from American Pie and Catherine O'Hara from Home Alone and that's it. I grew up on heaping helpings of SCTV nearly everyday as a little kid with my dad. I watched their movies, read their stuff, etc. I've appreciated their comic delivery, sensibility, etc. so much that I think the "surprise" factor isn't there for me, so whenever the show is funny, I'm less "BWAH! Funny!" and instead I'm more, "Of course this part is funny, its Eugene and Catherine." There's no way to not sound full of myself with that, probably, but hopefully people get what I mean.

Really enjoying it and we held off 100% until it was all on Netflix, glad to watch it together.

I personally feel like the show hit its stride in season 3.

Yep. Story, you're in for some good, um, story, in the show.

True, while I enjoy it, I have often felt it would be much better if I were a featured regular on the show.

Oh didn't you know?
You, the audience, have been the fifth family member all along. True, uh, story.

This show is fantastic and I feel it's one of those rare shows that just gets better and better. Glad they went out on a high note. Great stuff!

This is one of those shows that I think is funnier the more I watch it. I didn't laugh as much the first time around as I do now. It helps that I like every character.

Been watching it with my wife recently, and we're more than half way through, and I honestly don't understand the praise it gets.
I mean it's fine, and I'm enjoying it okay enough to keep watching, but it's a completely forgettable sitcom, IMO. Wife loves it however.

Both wife and I loved it. I loved it all the more because of Stevie. I think I have a real thing for Emily Hampshire. Oh, and she posted this, so I'll have to now marry her as well. Check out her blu's and special editions on that top shelf.

I found her really entertaining in the 12 Monkeys TV show - about as different a character from Stevie as you could imagine.

Same.

I’ve been watching since Day 1 and while it’s enjoyable, I don’t get all the crazy awards love. In 5 years will anyone even remember it?

I've watched the series quite a few times already. I think it's a very good background watching show as well, so I think it will definitely be remembered at least as much as something like Parks and Rec.

I don't think it will get to The Office levels of meme craziness, but I think this show will continue to be watched and appreciated, and I personally think it's better than the Office, which I haven't even gone back to watch once since its run.

Episode-wise, Schitts is only 80 while Parks is 126 and The Office is 201, - so it's certainly easier to rewatch Schitts which is the length of 4 'normal' sitcoms seasons (aka, the sweet syndication spot).

I don't know, I just think the charm will be lost in a few years. The weird last year explosion just seems weird. Why was this show ignored for 4/5 seasons?

Because it was on a shitty channel in the US that most people don’t know exists.

Yes, I was watching it when it first started airing, and no one I knew heard about it. I noticed more and more people talking about it once it hit Netflix. It was almost immediate. I even saw it as the front page splash on Netflix a few times. So, I'm guessing that Netflix push got a ton of people on board.

Yeah, most people think Schitt's Creek is a Netflix show. It steadily drew bigger audiences on that platform than it did on POP.
