"Power Outage" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-PG, V) (HDTV)

THE FLASH GETS A VISIT FROM DC CHARACTERS FAROOQ AND THE CLOCK KING - The Flash (Barry Allen) goes up against Farooq aka Blackout (guest star Michael Reventar), a metahuman who can harness electricity. During their battle, Farooq zaps The Flash and siphons all his electricity, leaving The Flash without his speed. Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanagh), Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) work to reverse the effects on Barry, but their efforts are disrupted when Farooq comes banging on S.T.A.R. Labs doors in search of Wells, who he blames for his accident. Without Barry's powers to protect them, the group must figure out a way to save themselves from the metahuman. Meanwhile, Tockman (guest star Robert Knepper) manages a coup inside the Central City police department and takes several people hostage, including Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and Iris (Candice Patton). While Iris is sure The Flash will save them, Eddie (Rick Cosnett) has a trick up his sleeve. Larry Shaw directed the episode written by Alison Schapker & Grainne Godfree (#107). Original airdate 11/25/2014.

Good episode. Liking the show a lot, but I think the show doesn't always have to have a metahuman-of-the-week element to it, which is why I thought it was a nice touch to have Tockman show up this week as a side story for the normal humans characters to battle. Next week's episode looks like a lot of fun.

Now we know how Elongated Man got his powers in this universe.

Ralph Dibny was mentioned in the list of names of the casualties. As was Fire's alter ego.

The alter ego mentioned was Bea Decosta.

She was a member of the Justice League for quite a while.

Sorry, I missed the reverse-flash discussion from last week's episode. If it's not too late, I'll throw Robbie Amell into the pool. As soon as I saw him messing around the particle accelerator a few episodes ago I said boom, that dude is coming back on the show at some point, most likely as the reverse flash, pissed that Barry Allen is getting with his old girlfriend, Caitlin.

Cool, I missed the Elongated Man reference. Another good episode, and yet another Prison Break alumnus cast as a Flash villain, T-Bag!

Ice's best friend. Fire has always been portrayed as a Brazilian super-model. I can't wait to see if Ralph Dibny gets on the show.

This episode with Blackout turned out far darker than I imagined. Barry is going up against more dangerous villains than Green Arrow so far, they all seem completely psychotic.

Did anyone notice Barry outraced the lightning bolts? Google says it can depend on air conditions, but the typical lightning bolt moves at 224,000 mph -- or about 3,700 miles per second.-eek-

Those were GROOVY glasses that Tockman was wearing. I want a pair.

Wells also mention Al Rothstein aka ATOM SMASHER from Infinity Inc.

I really like this show, the mugger bit was great, I've had that same thought in my mind before.

When it comes to the clock king, I think a kid with a rubber band could have taken him out faster.

If we assume Wells doesn't want to harm Barry then the only reason for him to want to know how to steal Barry's powers is to give himself speed powers. If Wells isn't Reverse Flash, then what other speedster could he become?

Given the headlines on Wells' future newspaper machine, I suspect the Flash disappeared because he time travels somewhere. The articles themselves were mostly nonsense if you bothered to read them.

We know Wells is faking his paralysis, but I wonder if he was always faking it or whether he really was paralyzed immediately following the accelerator blowing up and used some future medicine to heal himself. One of the articles on the future newspaper display mentions using DNA alteration to promote healing. One presumes it's based on researching Barry.

There seriously was a lot of people that tapped into the speed force. I mean, when a math equation grants you access to it...

.

Nope. It happened in the comics a long time ago.

I really liked the fight at end better than last week; he should have been that fast last week.

I hadn't noticed it on the paper before, but it said something about a Wayne Corp. / Queen Inc. merger. That was cool.

The 2024 future front page was shown in the pilot episode, this time they left it up there a little longer. The contents are identical.

fuck you Flash... you get your red pleather panties all in a twist because your mentor used the one guy who had any chance of beating Blackout to buy some time to save everyone else's lives, but you were perfectly OK with locking Colossus away in solitary confinement for the next 60 years. Hypocrite.

Still less hypocritical than Arrow cockblocking Laurel because the guy supposedly killed someone.

The merger fell through in the paper when Flash didn't have his powers, was successful in the normal paper.

I hope the twist reveals that Wells isn't from the future, that he's just a dude that likes messing around photoshop.

Wells has a computer that can extrapolate information from possible future timelines, that could be quite a few people in the DCU like Rick Hunter, Waverider, Booster Gold, etc, etc.

BTW: Oliver (in Arrow) in S1 is sociopath, screwing Laurel in front of an open window just to make sure Tommy sees.

Extrapolate, or does it have an actual feed from the future? This guy's very name suggests he's a time traveler. The question is why he wants a particular future to occur.

I liked the use of the word "Crisis." It will be interesting to see how they proceed with that.

Kinda tired of the "hit by the explosion, now I'm a bad guy" weekly thing. Also don't wish to see months of Flash flirting with Iris, Barry blushing and fuming around Iris, Iris fawning over Flash and still seeing cop dude. So very formula.

Ready to see more villains not hit by the explosion. Or how about people hit by the explosion that suddenly don't become raging, murdering assholes.
