Just watched it today.

Moyer was the best part of the show. The guy playing the lead role has the charisma of a wet sock.

Oh come on, give the guy a break. This is his 1st major lead role. He was best known for starring in something called "Slut: The Musical"

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3728777/

He could become the next Charlie Hunnam for all we know. Hunnam got his 1st big break from Sutter.

Hunnam was a lead in Undeclared. Even though that show got canceled early, that's kind of big. Though I'm surprised he hasn't been in the Apatow fold since then.

Episode 3 airs tonight.

In true Kurt Sutter fashion, it's another extended episode. 76 minutes!! I'm going to guess no one will be in a hurry to watch this right away.

So Vampire Bill knows the real identity of the executioner, but is just going to let him hang around and try to blackmail him instead of killing him immediately?

God help the poor people watching this without a DVR. This episode was loaded with commercials. I was getting tired hitting the skip button so often. FX's practice of over loading shows with extra commercials is silly.

I'll give this show some credit, it is definitely original. If they are using a formula, I've never seen it before. I have no idea what the witch is doing on this show, it's like she is a character from a different show that occasionally makes a cameo.

From everything I gather, this entire narrative is built on plot contrivances. There is the wife that wants to pretend she's really his wife, even in private. I am already beginning to zone out on the pretentious period dialogue.

Yeah, not good. I think I'm bailing 3 episodes in.

The plot is not really all that interesting and it's not clear at all how the witch plotline matters (other than for Sutter to employ his wife), there's really only one good character and Sutter is clearly gong into the bag of tricks early for shock value. The incestuous twins was an interesting touch, I can only wonder what he'll be doing by the end of the season

Sutter using plot contrivances? Surely you jest! Just imagine when the 'profound' symbolism starts.

I bailed maybe 40 mins into the first episode. Not for me.

Same here. I suffered through every season of Sons Of Anarchy. This was way, way worse. I'm out.

I have to give props to Sutter in 1 thing on this show. His decision to play the role sans make up is inspirational. To let the world see the real him in all his flaky glory is wonderful. I was also surprised to see his wife without make up on the show. She too is very brave and hideous.

Was that knowledge revealed for the first time at the end of the third ep? Or did I fall asleep somewhere along the line earlier?

It was pretty heavily hinted at in the first episode. Then made crystal clear in the third.

The manner in which they were discussing it at the end of third ep made it seem as if there was a big reveal earlier on the Chamberlain's part, and I don't remember one.

Also - Peg Bundy needs to go.

Just awful.

There was a key scene much earlier where it was clear he knew what was going on, but was going along with it because he could use it to his advantage.

I'd like to hear from someone who has seen all the episodes to date, if that person even exists.

Re: The Bastard Executioner (FX) -- Season 1 Thread -- From EP Kurt Sutter -- 9/15/15

I've seen all of it so far. Only 1 episode left this season. Honestly this show moves very slowly and doesn't ever really reveal much of anything. We just learned finally why Katey and her husband are even around in this latest episode which was a pretty silly reveal; especially since MC didn't even know apparently. I've been considering dropping it after every episode but I continued it for some reason; now I may as well watch the season finale... but I honestly hope it doesn't get renewed so I don't have to bother with considering if I want to bother with season 2.

A ringing endorsement if I've ever heard one. I get the feeling Sutter wanted the story to play out over five or more seasons. Ratings are pretty bad, it's possible FX gives it one more token season.

And canceled. By Sutter himself (and FX). So I'd say you can safely delete those backlogged episodes.
