All I could think about is who is going to feed those prisoners? These scientists have to add "prison guard" to their job duties. The prison idea is super stupid. It'll only be a matter of time before they break out of there.

Speaking of, I loved when Barry said he didn't want a museum in his honor. Nice reference to the Flash Museum.

The worst part of the episode was that final confrontation between Flash and the Mist. This show needs to figure out how to show Barry's powers in battle with their limited FX budget. He looks great when zipping around the city.

I'm not sure a regular prison is equipped to deal with metahumans like the Mist. Though it makes me wonder if Star Labs is really equipped to deal with long-term imprisonment.

I'm not sure we know the extent of Star Labs in the Arrow/Flash universe. When I read DC back in the mid/late 90s it was a large entity. It's possible the Central City location is a defunct branch, but with access to more resources.

For a minute I thought the Gas Man would be Metamorpho/The Element Man.

The ep was ok. I keep reminding myself he is new to this hero thing. We've watched various Speedsters get out of these same situations with ease for years. So when i scream "Spin around fast and make the gas blow away!"...I have to remember he isn't there yet.

They have only imprisoned The Mist (lol), and he is technically dead.

I think that he thinks he recognized his own son and that we are meant to think that he didn't.

they're leaning toward the Post-Crisis explanation as to what happened to Barry after he died during the Crisis (before the introduction of the Speed Force in the 90s). He broke apart and became the lightning bolt that turned him into the Flash in the first place. I wonder if Dr. Wells, knowing that Barry will die in the Crisis, travelled back to create the accelerator and "capture" Barry's energy to create that lightning bolt?

Yes. That's how it happened after 1985.

As Barry destroyed the Anti-Monitor's cannon, he started to travel backwards through time. He's seen throughout the Crisis maxi-series, slowly shriveling away. A few years later, a Secret Origins annual expanded on the idea and showed Barry traveling backwards in time (to stop the power source of the cannon - A tachyon). He becomes energy and is finally shown as the lightning bolt that struck him.

When Mark Waid introduced the Speed Force, it became the "heaven" that speedsters go to after they die. It's also the energy they tap into to run so fast. It's first hinted, then shown that this is where Barry ended up. During Infinite Crisis, he briefly appears to help Wally and Bart capture Superboy-Prime. He finally escapes from the Speed Force during Final Crisis. As to how and why he actually got out was later explained during The Flash: Rebirth.

came out of a Secret Origins story in the late 80s, and wasn't really canonical for all that long.

I'm not that big a fan of that retcon, but it beats this one.

Sorry -- I misread your post and thought you were saying that origin was from Crisis, not Secret Origins. In my defense, reading is hard.
