Gotham or The Flash?

Which DC tv show do you like better?

Had a lot of fun with The Flash pilot. much lighter fare and i think i like the characters better. especially the titular hero.

Re: Gotham or The Flash?

Flash is one of my favorite superheroes, so definitely Flash. Although I much prefer Wally to Barry.

Gotham is a Batman show without Batman. **** that.

Although Constantine is my most anticipated, especially since we might see some other characters like Spectre and Phantom Stranger there.

Re: Gotham or The Flash?

Hard to compare the two. Gotham is a semi serialized cop show with Gotham villains. The Flash is a more traditional super hero show.

And yes it's a little too early to say which is better. Gotham has aired 3 episodes, Flash just 1.

Isn't it too early to compare yet? Maybe this question could be relevant before the end of the season.

Re: Gotham or The Flash?

Gotham by default.

I've never liked DC's super heroes outside of Batman.

Though I have MUCH MUCH stronger dislike for Superman and The Green Lantern than I do the Flash.

What don't you like about Green Lantern? I never cared much for GL either, until Geoff Johns started writing the title. Johns' work has been mostly awesome. There's a reason why Green Lantern did not get rebooted with the New 52, and that reason is because Johns' work was so good.

Re: Gotham or The Flash?

I haven't seen Flash. Didn't know it was out yet. Gotham is mediocre. I admire what they MAY be going for but it's just mediocre. I like the idea of Jim Gordon doing his thing but the overload of bs winks to the mythos and etc is stupid. Also.... kid Wayne is annoying. Why is he in it that much? Shit character.

They're trying to be a show w/o Batman but they can't stop inserting all the bs of it. If it was a proper crime procedural thing with cultural/societal issues of the city? It'd work. But also... it's on a major network so that stops it from getting original too.

The show just loves connecting it all together. Ugh.

Re: Gotham or The Flash?

I really like both but it's too early to call this one. Gotham has a more unique atmosphere, but the core Flash arc seems more ambitious.

Gotham at this point, though I think it's too early to make a call as we've only seen one Flash episode.

Re: Gotham or The Flash?

I find Gotham pretty meh overall. Its a cop show with Batman characters and doesn't have enough about it to set it apart as unique in my opinion.

Re: Gotham or The Flash?

I like Gotham. It has some issues, but I dig the film noir vibe. The show has a lot of potential, I'm not sure they will fully realize it, but I'm hopeful.

I wasn't nearly as impressed with the Flash premiere episode as most. It had some interesting bits, the mother's death, the professor, but overall it was pretty average. I'll need to see a couple of regular episodes before I make a final judgement.

Re: Gotham or The Flash?

Gotham has potential, but The Flash is already there. The shows are completely different in terms of atmosphere, but for what they're each trying to be, The Flash has already nailed it.

Re: Gotham or The Flash?

A little early considering we've only had one Flash episode. But I thought it was excellent and thought it was better than Gotham, which is still a crime procedural at this point.

Cannot choose one above the other. I like them both a lot on their own terms.

Re: Gotham or The Flash?

Gotham by far...The Flash just seems like another CW superhero show - Gotham is different enough that you don't even need to be a Batman fan to enjoy it.

Re: Gotham or The Flash?

I'm sticking with Gotham, for now, but all these goddamn winks to the mythos is really overplayed. Flash hopefully gets better.

Maybe I'm asking too much for network television. I just want... solid shit from it. These comic related shows are pretty much the only ones I watch aside from Bob's Burgers and some other little stuff.

Re: Gotham or The Flash?

People were nuts if they thought Gotham was going to be free of fan service. The show wouldn't exist if Batman wasn't the most popular superhero in the world. No one cares about a group of cops in a dirty city, we already get that in other procedurals. It's only a matter of time until the villains in Gotham start running around in costumes.

Re: Gotham or The Flash?

Fan service is one thing but it really seems like this show can't survive without jamming it in as much as possible. It doesn't even do it well. How many times does someone mention that Cobblepot comes off like a penguin? A shit ton. A young kid Selina always in a catwoman stance when she can. Nygma jamming his riddle aspect any time he pops up. Winks to the mythos can be fine but all the time it's reminding you where you are. There is no subtlety in it. Bruce Wayne is a fucking big culprit. Jesus... that kid needs to be written out. He's written horribly but also I don't think the kid is all that good of an actor for what the script needs for him.

Re: Gotham or The Flash?

The Flash my a mile. Gotham has too many annoying characters. Donal Logue's Harvey Bullock ruins the show for me.
