Jerrod Carmichael "Love at The Store" HBO standup

Anybody see this new HBO standup special on Saturday? His delivery is pretty matter of fact, but this was one of the best standup specials I've ever seen on HBO.

This dude is an incredible & very observant writer. *note* this is also one of the more offensive routines on HBO I've seen a while.

Carmichael is going to be a star in the standup game.

I'm not familiar with him, but Grantland did a piece on him last week so I'll probably check it out.

I didn't see it, but with that kind of endorsement, I'll make sure to check it out.

Yeah, I usually at least know who the person is when they get an HBO Special.

I've already watched it twice. I kind of wish he hadn't used the 9/11 bit so early in the show. I'm afraid some people will turn it off at that point.

and Chris Rock caught a lot of flack for his whole "black people vs. N-word" back in the 90s.

That was like child's play compared to this.

Didn't really much care for it. His "gay" bit was pretty bad.

I've heard Jarrod a few time on Comedy Bang Bang. I also remember he toured with Tosh a year or two ago because Daniel would plug it at the end of every episode by showing a picture of Jarrod that was never actually Jarrod.

I missed the first 20 minutes of the special but what did see was hilarious.

I was absolutely blown away by his thoughts on growing up black. Even some of the black people that think that way probably wouldn't dare tell it to their friends, much less in front of a national audience.

I never realized that was Jerrod Carmichael in the movie Neighbors.

Watched the HBO special for the 4th time. It just doesn't get old. Brilliant stuff.

So many quotable/memorable lines.

He was on Conan and Colbert this week.

The last show he did on HBO was pretty good where he talked about how he wanted to be a Republican and Jay Z and 9/11.

Re: Jerrod Carmichael "Love at The Store" HBO standup

Never heard of the guy, but caught most of the special and thought he was very funny, although some of it was very dark humor. The part about 'Grandparents just getting married and not being in love' bit was so true. I think the punchline was, "The idea of a good father hasn't been around that long, probably started with the TV show Family Ties." He is so true as that generation of fathers were the last of the old fashioned where they didn't do diapers, they didn't get emotional with their kids, etc. They went to work and came home and that was all they did (their job was to provide for the family and put food on the table), as the stay at home mother did everything else. They all got married in their late teens/early 20's so the women had to pick a husband at some point.

Thanks for the heads up. I loved the first HBO special so I'll make sure to watch this one soon. The trailer looks promising.

I never heard of him before, so I checked it out. Mostly good stuff, mixed with some stuff I didn't care about. Yeah, the bit about Jay Z being his idol way more than MLK. Some pretty funny stuff. And I agree, the entire bit about the grandparents was very true. I think that was the highlight of the show for me. I'll have to go find the first one and see how that is.

So fucking good. Watched it twice already.

He is so different in delivery and quiet about it. I thought the first half hour was brilliant. The final 25 mins or so was good, but not quite as good.

I loved how uncomfortable the crowd was at times.

And oh my God, the stuff about grandmothers and baking cookies as their identity or whatever, was off the charts good.
