It just looked like a room to me, why would they put children in an immortality pit?

I doubt it, because if it was this show would have done a bunch of very obvious references to it for the audience.

That cellar looked nothing like Griffith Park.

I watched the episode last night on DVR and I'm still very much into the show. I think it's important to realize that this is a serial with many threads slowly unraveling over multiple episodes (somewhat like the Sopranos, for example). As such, some threads will get very little development in a particular episode and many things won't be nicely wrapped up and answered within a single episode either.
That said, some things I don't like so far:

The big guest actors did ham it up in this episode as disposable villains. It felt out of place in this very grim take on Gotham. I think Selina might be the best aspect of this show, her appearance and behavior looks pulled from a fairly recent run in the comics. I am also pleased with the early results from the Penguin. I just hope he gets a monocle at some point.
http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/...1-catwoman.jpg I think the kid playing Bruce has acting limitations, which is a problem. The producers better hope he gets better as the series ages. I don't have a problem with the tact they have taken with Bruce's character. This is basically Batman-in-training and he is already starting his life's mission. He's not going to be like the other kids. I imagine Alfred will grow softer as he becomes Bruce's father figure. |
