Re: The Tick - Patrick Warburton to return for Amazon
I missed this in August and just noticed that Edlund is an exec producer on Gotham.
So I searched for the tick and found an announcement on fanboysinc. Com?
Anyway I liked the show and will keep my prime for another year.
Would love to see the Superman parody that was in the comic.

Pilot officially ordered by Amazon: http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/418...e-tick-revival
Amazon has ordered a pilot for a new live-action comedy series take on Ben Edlund's iconic comic book character "The Tick" which Sony Pictures TV is producing.
Edlund ("Gotham," "Firefly," "Supernatural") created the 1994 animated series and the 2001 short-lived live-action TV series about the character. He'll return as writer and executive producer alongside Barry Josephson.
Griffin Newman ("Vinyl") is set to play Arthur Everest, and Valorie Curry ("Veronica Mars") has been cast as his sister Dot Everest in the pilot which will bring back the muscle-bound, antennae-sporting superhero along with a new host of characters. In this take, The Tick is recovering from a memory loss and re-teams Arthur to fight evil.
Patrick Warburton, who played the title character in the 2001 series and was rumored to be returning two years ago when revival rumors sprang up, is NOT expected to be involved in the Amazon pilot. Casting is currently underway for the lead.
"Transcendence" helmer Wally Pfister is reportedly in negotiations to direct the project.

Wally Pfister directing? That's interesting.
The original pilot was directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, with some obvious influence from the crew he worked with on Men in Black.

For anyone that has never seen it, the animated show was inspired genius. It pretty much set the template for lampooning superheroes and is one of my favorite shows of all time. The live-action series on NBC was a decent, if lesser, incarnation. Warburton was easily the best thing about it.

Too bad Warburton isn't returning as I thought he did a good job in the original short lived series.

Hmmm, I'm so used to Warburton in the role, and this new costume isn't really working for me, but I'll still check it out and hope for the best.

bumping. Started today. I watched it, really liked it. Focuses primarily on Arthur, but the Tick himself is classic.

Costume still looks like junk.
Arthur is too much of an oddball. The tick sounds too much like he's impersonating Warburton.
At least they brought back the sound of the alarm clock from the cartoon oh and Warburton is a producer on this show.

Same here. I was all ready to watch the whole season. Then I was confused (maybe they'll release one episode a week?). Now I see they only shot the pilot. This one better get produced. It's an obvious winner.

I was really disappointed in this. Maybe it's because I was specifically in the mood for a comedy when I put it on, as I was expecting a comedy about The Tick, but instead it was mostly a drama about Arthur.

I thought that too, especially with the nightlight talking to him in the Tick's voice, but unless he's got Godlike powers, there's no way, the Tick does things on his own and others can see him.
I don't remember superior man from the comic but I thought it odd that he came to Earth like a hundred years ago. I wonder if he's secretly the big bad or if the villain transferred minds or something. Somehow I didn't get that he was captured and killed 19 years ago until the sister mentioned it was only a year after the ice cream incident.
This is certainly way different than the parody fest that the cartoon and the comic are, though it was still written by Edlund.
