Re: "Happy Valley" - Acclaimed BBC crime drama hits Netflix (20/08/14)
I'm halfway through it already. Has a bit of a Fargo vibe but not as quirky. Acting is excellent. Love it so far.

Re: "Happy Valley" - Acclaimed BBC crime drama hits Netflix (20/08/14)
Good series.. but a couple of pretty brutal scenes later on. You were warned.

Re: "Happy Valley" - Acclaimed BBC crime drama hits Netflix (20/08/14)
Yeah, it's a great series.

Re: "Happy Valley" - Acclaimed BBC crime drama hits Netflix (20/08/14)
I noticed this showed up last night when I was perusing the lists. Never heard of it before, but I love BBC shows, so I'll check it out sometime. I still have a lot of others to catch up on, including the underrated Wallander.

You mean the brits aren't doing a TV show about Penn State?

Finished it. Excellent show, great writing, characters, acting, no unnecessary red herrings, twists or side stories. The female lead, Sarah Lancashire, is awesome. Can't wait for series 2.

Binged watched it last Sunday; slow to start but really intense by the 4th episode. Hopefully, they have another season.

I will look for a link, but I swear I read that it was getting a 2nd season... |

Re: "Happy Valley" - Acclaimed BBC crime drama hits Netflix (08/20/14)
This was great, she totally reminded me a bit of Dirty Harry.
Liked it a lot and eps 4, 5, 6 were excellent. |
Re: "Happy Valley" - Acclaimed BBC crime drama hits Netflix (08/20/14)
We just finished this as well- that was one of the best seasons (even at only 6 episodes) of any show we have seen in a long time.
Absolutely fantastic- thrilled that there is going to be another season, but man, do they have a tough act to follow- going to be hard to ever top that story. |
Re: "Happy Valley" - Acclaimed BBC crime drama hits Netflix (08/20/14)
I liked the unpredictability of it but in the end I found this to be very good, not great.

Re: "Happy Valley" - Acclaimed BBC crime drama hits Netflix (08/20/14)
Liked it but the last two episodes were a little disappointing compared to the stellar four that preceded them. I was glued to the television and then you reach episode 5 and it's just...eh.
The ending was a bit boring as well. |
Re: "Happy Valley" - Acclaimed BBC crime drama hits Netflix (08/20/14)
The second season was added to Netflix today.

re: Happy Valley - Acclaimed BBC crime drama
I binged watched the first series yesterday. Very good series. Started strong, ended slow, but still strong.
Looking forward to series 2. |

Ah Netflix, where good shows go to, uh, well, get renewed for additional seasons.

re: Happy Valley - Acclaimed BBC crime drama
Pumped for the new season but expect we will be using CC while viewing because between accents and fast talkers it was tough at times to make out all the dialog.
Plus I was reading in the Daily Mail site a while back that viewers in the UK were complaining about low volume in the speaking sound track of these new episodes. |

Plus I was reading in the Daily Mail site a while back that viewers in the UK were complaining about low volume in the speaking sound track of these new episodes. That being said, this episode was great and introduced quite a few storylines... it's good to see Mr. Moseley and Neville Longbottom get work. ;) |
re: Happy Valley - Acclaimed BBC crime drama
oh man, I gotta finish bosch first, then Daredevil comes out then I got to get back to my DVR stuff..

re: Happy Valley - Acclaimed BBC crime drama
Finished it tonight. Brilliant writing and acting (again). Misery worth wallowing in with delicious moments of black comedy. Even better than the first season imho.

re: Happy Valley - Acclaimed BBC crime drama
Great second season, finished very strong! Love sarah lancashire.. She's terrific in this.

re: Happy Valley - Acclaimed BBC crime drama
Just burned through season 2. One of my favorite and best acted shows on the air. Glad to see they announced their will be a season 3.

Welcome back to Wild West Yorkshire When Catherine discovers the remains of a gangland murder victim in a drained reservoir, it sparks a chain of events that unwittingly leads her straight back to Tommy Lee Royce. |
Re: Happy Valley - Acclaimed BBC crime drama
Nice. That's almost a 7 year gap between seasons. Definitely need a major recap before watching S3.
|
Re: Happy Valley - Acclaimed BBC crime drama
About time, I had completely forgotten about that series.

Re: Happy Valley - Acclaimed BBC crime drama
Sweet.

Re: Happy Valley - Acclaimed BBC crime drama
Realizing I saw season 1 but never returned to this series. I gotta catch up. Sarah Lancashire was great playing Julia Child on HBO for anyone who didn't see her.

Re: Happy Valley - Acclaimed BBC crime drama
Yeah, enjoyed Season 1 but never got around to 2. Looks like it's on AMC+...hmm, maybe it's time to sign up, at least for the free trial and knock out Season 2 before 3 airs.
|
Re: Happy Valley - Acclaimed BBC crime drama
Season 3 so far is GREAT! This show is up there with the very best of all British crime dramas. "Prime Suspect" and "The Fall", to name a few. And Sarah Lancashire is just brilliant. She deserves every award.

Re: Happy Valley - Acclaimed BBC crime drama
Finally got around to watching S3. Excellent season and finale to the series. Very satisfying ending.
As usual, Lancashire hits it out of the park. |
