Don't want to sound harsh but to me this dudes death is no more deserving of a thread than the other obitituries in any local paper.

Just because you don't care, it doesn't mean others don't. If Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood died, would you say who gives a fuck? Because millions of others die tragically every day? American Idol is still one of the most watched shows on TV despite it's decline and age.

Kind of ironic that you chose to respond to a thread about an Australian-born singer. I know Johns isn't well known, but he's still a notable contestant who most fans of Idol still remember.

For those who don't recall season 7, that was the season that David Cook won and was in the final 2 with David Archuleta. Johns finished in 8th place.

I remember Michael Johns, -I thought he was a real contender at first and one of my favorites of the bunch that year. He was certainly an antidote to the very Teen-Boy vibe that the much-hyped David Archeletta was bringing to the show; as a non-teen viewer I appreciated that. As I recall that was the season where most of the contestants were very seasoned, -they had a lot of stage experience before going onto the show. I think part of the problem was that Johns skewed "old" for that particular audience, as did Carly Smithson, who I believe went not too long after him.

I remember him and Carly Smithson. I liked both of them in addition to the evenutal winner David Cook. I liked those three much more than the much hyped David Archuleta. Yeah, that season had contestants with stage experience and the show's producers were criticized for that. But seasoned performers have competed since season one.

It is sad that Michael who is still quite young has passed away.

It's also sad that he went to the doctor the day before and they "didn't find anything" and sent him home. Aren't there tests that can be run to check for blood clots?

Yeah, Johns turned heads early with Bohemian Rhapsody but lost steam as the weeks went on. Still, it was surprising that he left as early as he did. I never liked Carly Smithson but Johns seemed like a nice guy.

Not the guy's fault at all, but we all snickered a bit during one sequence when they showed people who had left surprisingly early, and alongside Daughtry and some others they included Johns.

I actually have his first post-Idol album. Perfectly fine, but I didn't listen to it much.

Yes. You can do a blood test, called a D dimer. Ultrasound can also be used.

Also more extensive tests can be used, like MRI, and CAT scans.

I don't watch AI but it's pretty sad for anyone to go like this. Probably a pulmonary embolism.
