"Preacher" renewed by AMC for season 3. I had assumed it was renewed, but I guess it was never official until now.

USA cancelled Playing House after 3 seasons. It was a 1/2 hour comedy that I don't think anyone watched. http://cdn.renewcanceltv.com/wp-cont...ayinghouse.jpg |
Re: The One and Only TV FAQ Thread Plus Renewal and Cancellation News
I am bringing this up in the cancellation thread because ouch...did y'all see the Deadline Hollywood site breakdown of the ratings disaster that is Monday night TV? At least a disaster for CBS comedies/Scorpion, CW shows, and NBC's The Brave. You will notice The Good Doctor (and I might add The Gifted to the list) is not part of the ratings nightmare that is Monday night TV for most shows that aired last night (I think the ratings reports for Network execs for last nights shows are scarier than anything that you could see in the movie Jigsaw).
It must be a bit jarring for CBS to come to the realization that The Big Bang Theory really was propping up an entire night of TV, and without TBBT's coattails pretty much all of the sitcoms last night belong on the chopping block. I foresee a whole new crop of comedies/dramas being feverishly worked on so CBS can get these under performers off the air asap. I hate that a whole bunch of folks will need to find new work, and even though most of the sitcoms are background viewing for me I still watch them, but jeebus...if I was a CBS employee involved in getting these shows on the air the numbers would keep me up at night. I also noted on Deadline that if Kevin Can Wait was a show that did not know what it wanted to be in its first season it is completely adrift at the present moment. Edited to add: Okay, CBS was as horrified by the ratings #s on most (all) of their Monday night shows as I was and Me, Myself & I has been pulled from the schedule. Man With A Plan is coming back on the 13th and next week filling in the gap will be a rerun of TBBT (which will of course get much higher #s than any of the originals on that night). I am not one who thinks the only good comedies are airing on cable/basic cable (The Good Place is evidence that there is still a lot of life left in network comedies, and some ABC comedies on Tues/Wed are also crowd pleasers), but maybe the slight edginess of some comedies on say FX or HBO or Showtime minus the nudity/swearing does need to rub off on network shows (again, The Good Place has shown it is willing to play around with an audiences expectations of what a 24 minute comedy should consist of). I expect to hear soon that NBC and THE CW are also pulling shows as it was a bloodbath for network TV in general on Monday. |
Re: The One and Only TV FAQ Thread Plus Renewal and Cancellation News
This season doesn't have one night where we like shows for 2 straight hours. There are one or two here and there. Most is filler and background noise while we play on the tablets.

Marvel's New Warriors will not air on Freeform as previously planned. Marvel is shopping it elsewhere. |
Re: The One and Only TV FAQ Thread Plus Renewal and Cancellation News
Freeform's makeover has been a total disaster for the channel. Whatever identity they had as ABC Family has been lost and each new show they try dies on the vine.
Supergirl on Monday nights is a disaster of its own making after a second season that alienated half of its audience. |

Re: The One and Only TV FAQ Thread Plus Renewal and Cancellation News
Honestly, I'd just blame it on the crappy programming we have on Monday nights. I think the Brave is the only show I tape that night and it's nothing amazing.

The Orville renewed for season 2 by FOX.
http://deadline.com/2017/11/the-orvi...ne-1202200369/ Seth MacFarlane’s space adventure series The Orville has been picked up for a second season by Fox. The decision comes seven episodes into The Orville‘s 13-episode first season. Because of the show’s elaborate production and post-production, including visual effects, The Orville had been intended for a limited season, and the early renewal will give it a head start on Season 2 whose exact length is TBD. |

Man with a Plan and Superior Donuts both picked up for full seasons at CBS http://deadline.com/2017/11/wisdom-o...ns-1202215103/ Wisdom of the Crowd unofficially cancelled. No back order pick up, which essentially means it's dead. |
