2 Broke Girls cancelled.

Sounds like the reason was cost and CBS didn't own the show. They had no financial benefit to keep airing it.

Thank god. I have no idea why I still watched it. Should have deleted it from my DVR years ago, but for some inexplicable reason, I felt like I had to ride it all the way to the finish. The very definition of "hate watch" for me.

Fresh off the Boat, The Goldbergs, and Brooklyn Nine Nine all getting renewed makes me happy. Glad there's still one Asian-American sitcom on the air, and it's the better of the two that ABC aired.

Re: The One and Only TV FAQ Thread Plus Renewal and Cancellation News

2 Broke Girls made me laugh even though it was a "dumb" sitcom.

I'm kind of sad to see it end because I've always liked Beth and Kat and liked their chemistry. The most appealing aspect was their friendship on the show.

But then again, it was mostly stupid and juvenile humor. Most of the episodes were forgettable. Jennifer Coolidge was probably the worst addition to that show. She made me roll my eyes every time she appeared on screen.

I too kept wondering why I was still watching 2 Broke Girls. It had some laughs, but overall the humor was so stupid and I guess that made it kinda funny. I won't miss it though.

Timeless renewed for a 2nd season. NBC changed their minds:

Sony apparently fought hard to save it.

Deadline reports that Baby Daddy was cancelled, which is a surprise given its good ratings. I watch, but there are only so many times they can show the main character taking two steps forward and three back, so I will not miss.

Meaning Sony must have given them Timeless practically for free. I would expect severe budget cuts, so it will be interesting to find out if we see less time travel.

Read the story. Contract agreement is unaltered. I doubt Sony, Shawn Ryan, and Eric Kripke would agree to make the show on a drastically slashed budget. There is just a point where creatively it can't be done.

Renewal is nice, but the "family friendly" pitch and episode cut for Timeless does not augur well. The article also has some strange wording on Blindspot, implying its renewal was reversed.

Blindspot got renewed because WB offered NBC an ownership stake in the show according to the article.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if this ends up becoming standard operating procedure. Basically putting Warner, Sony, Lionsgate, etc ... at a significant disadvantage.

Very happy to see this. Great show. I was worried it was too expensive.

Re: The One and Only TV FAQ Thread Plus Renewal and Cancellation News

24 Legacy and Prison Break will not return next season.

24's issue is Hawkins schedule (working on a play on Broadway) and being able to come up with a story.

Prison Break was always intended to be a self contained story. They said they are leaving the door open if they come up with another story down the road.

Scream Queens cancelled.

The Odd Couple officially cancelled by CBS after 3 seasons.

Hope that frees up Thomas Lennon to maybe work on Lethal Weapon season 2.

With ratings down across the board and network advertisers bulking at paying exorbitant ad rates,I expect the trend for productions done in-house to only rise. It's just about the only way to make a profit on an expensive TV production when the ratings go below a certain number.

Re: The One and Only TV FAQ Thread Plus Renewal and Cancellation News

Good that they canceled 24 Legacy, or for the most part, no immediate continuation. Two hour TV movies featuring classic characters would work better from here on out.

The single season for Prison Break is fine by me. I consider it a bonus season.

Scream Queens season 2 wasn't good, so I'm not surprised it was cancelled.
