Hotel Hell (FOX) -- Season 2 Thread -- Summer 2014

GORDON RAMSAY WISHES HE COULD TURN BACK TIME ON THE SEASON PREMIERE OF "HOTEL HELL" MONDAY, JULY 21, ON FOX
In the searing heat of New Mexico, Gordon Ramsay checks in to the Meson De Mesilla, a place that looks more like a penitentiary than a luxury boutique hotel. On arrival, he is asked to sign a waiver to promise he won't damage the walls, and things go quickly downhill from there. He meets the hotel's owner, Cali Szczawinski, and soon discovers that she's more interested in singing than managing the hotel - a lot more interested. In fact, she seems to think she's Cher. Ramsay wishes he could turn back time, and reroute his flight to anywhere other than Las Cruces. Can he get this owner to focus more on running her hotel and keeping up his changes and less on her performances? Find out in the all-new "Meson De Mesilla" Season Premiere episode of HOTEL HELL airing Monday, July 21 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (HOT-201) (TV-14 D, L)

This aired last night.
8 episode 2nd season
I'll throw this up for shits and giggles, but it doesn't seem like this forum cares all that much about Gordon Ramsay anymore. Nobody here watches Hell's Kitchen anymore and barely any watch MasterChef.
I just got back from vacation and recorded it, so I'm check it out soon.

I like this better than Kitchen Nightmares (US version). Of course it's very similar, but at least it covers more than just a restaurant's problems.

Caught some of the premiere. I like Ramsay when he focuses on food, but I'm not impressed with his hotel knowledge.
"Hotel Impossible" on the Travel Channel is the best one. Anthony Melchiorri is legit.

I am a huge Gordon Ramsey fan. I just can't stand the US reality TV version of him now. MasterChef is about as good as it gets here but nothing compares to the UK Kitchen Nightmares (the US version is almost unwatchable). I can't really blame him though, I'm sure the money Fox throws at him must be immense.

This was not a bad episode - you could tell that the hotel was in real good shape. The woman put $1.2M of work into it.
If the only thing they were complaining about was the pool had some leaves, there was a waiver on check in, and that there was no breakfast. This place is doomed.. Gordon didn't do much to help them:
A pool makeover, and getting her consulting for management may help, but I can tell she does not want to spend any more money

Episode 2 is tonight
GORDON RAMSAY STAGES AN INTERVENTION ON AN ALL-NEW "HOTEL HELL" MONDAY JULY 28, ON FOX
Gordon Ramsay checks into a historic building in Longview, WA, where the Hotel Monticello is celebrating its 90th anniversary. While picturesque from the outside, through the doors of the hotel lie a plethora of issues - the first being that owner Philip Lovingfoss is struggling to come to terms with his alcohol addiction. With the staff feeling neglected and underpaid, Ramsay needs to help Lovingfoss get back on track, both personally and professionally. With quite the task ahead of him, can Ramsay stage the intervention needed, or will this hotel close its doors just shy of its 90th anniversary? Find out in the all-new "Monticello Hotel" episode of HOTEL HELL airing Monday, July 28 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (HOT-202) (TV-14 D, L)

Episode 2 was pretty standard. The hotel Gordon was visiting was a dump. Employees were grossly underpaid for all the work they put in, and all the food from the kitchen was frozen and grossed out Gordon.
at the semen stains in the beds.
And then Gordon decides to play life coach for the owner who's an alcoholic. And man for a guy who is supposedly rich, he has awful taste in women. WTF is he doing with that old hag?

I enjoyed Mondays episode, but it was a lot of family drama. That family was a train wreck, especially with the stoner Dad who doesn't give a crap about anything. Those sons were real dicks to their Mom, especially keeping all those profits.
at them playing music well past 1am and Gordon struggling to sleep.
Gordon examining the beds with semen all over was
Man, that must have been a real stoner lodge with all those love orgies going on.
I'm curious, do they close the lodge/Hotel for a few days for the hotel hell team to do their renovations? I would think that would have to be done for all these hotels that Gordon visits.

I don't understand how people expect to run hotels and restaurants without understanding basic business and management practices.

I don't understand how people run hotels and restaurants where they're losing thousands of dollars a month and still stay open for as long as they do. For the stoner hotel to be close to $1M in debt how did they survive for that long?

Oh man. This season is just awesome. That stoner motel was great. That "music director" son had lifetime loser written all over him.

Enjoying the show, and Ramsay is always entertaining to watch, but I'm still enjoying Travel Channel's Hotel Impossible lots more. At least on HI we actually see all of the hard work involved in renovating a property, and I like that there is a spotlight on the designers. HH is essentially Ramsay's Adventures in a Shitty Hotel. Fun, but a total vanity project.
After airings of both shows, we enjoy jumping onto Trip Advisor to get updates on the hotel's successes/failures since the filming.

I absolutely loved tonight's episode. This was the definition of a feel good episode. I had never felt so bad for that couple than previous people Gordon tried to help.
That hotel was an absolute train wreck. The fact that the couple had to give up their home & live in the hotel, plus Sukie being forced to be the chef was heartbreaking. I'm amazed they were almost $1M in debt and that Sukie didn't know about it was baffling.
at Gordon taking the bubble bath.
The improvements were great and I'm happy what Gordon did for them in hiring a chef, who's salary he's covering. Plus, renting an apartment for them for at least 6 months. This is a case where I really hope they make it.

Yeah, I think that was the first time where I felt genuinely bad for the owners. According to Trip Advisor they are doing great business now so I'm happy for them.

Unlike some of the people Gordon has tried to help, I'm glad they showed someone who was more than willing to embrace the changes and was appreciative of what Gordon and FOX did.
It looks like this episode was shot over a year ago.

It mentions the episode was going to air in Fall 2013. Also, they have a tweet from Gordon on the site plugging the hotel that was dated in June of 2013.

Watched the episode with the 2 spoiled brats who's daddy bought them a hotel because they "really wanted it"
I wanted them to sell the hotel at a loss and hit daddy hard in the pocket.

Last nights episode was pretty entertaining.
at all the "stains"
The owner seemed like a nice guy who was pretty clueless. But, I was amazed he had all that staff working for him for free. Yeah they get free room and board, but how did they survive with no cash? He did have a good attitude towards Gordon and was very receptive to change unlike the two spoiled brats from last week.
at the pool with the turd in it. Gordon busted out the blue speedos again.

Interesting, just noticed the season finale of Hotel Hell is actually tonight
Wow, those 8 episodes flew by. I wonder if FOX will greenlight another season or not. Seems like this show doesn't nearly get the same attention as Hell's Kitchen or MasterChef.
