Re: The Legend of Korra, Book 3: Change
It makes zero sense. If the ratings were so terrible why'd they greenlight 3 seasons of it after season 1? I still don't see how they aren't losing more money by removing it on the network and only showing on there crappy website. I gotta believe they could've sold this to Netflix, Hulu or Amazon Prime. And since they're just throwing the last season out there in October I wish they would just release the Blu-Ray already.

I think the real issue with this show is that it doesn't sell merchandise or toys like the rest of the nick stuff does. So rerunning an episode of sponge bob gets more ratings and more viewers to those toy ads.
Like someone else said, this has a much older audience than what Nick is normally used to handling and thus the marketing is in a different ball park. They green light 3 more seasons after the first because it was getting fairly decent ratings. Then season 2 had a bit of a hiccup in terms of story and I'm sure that caused it to suffer some drop off.
But again, this is all demographics that Nick just doesn't know what to do with and that their ad stream isn't geared for to begin with.
It's no surprise that book 4 is ready this quickly. They were working on it at the same time as book 3 and had wrapped voice work and story boards and were shipping it off for final animation in July.
I'm sure they just want to plow through it so that they could move on to the on demand/video market to make up some of the cost as well as cash in on the fact that the past season just ended - I know it seems like they put so little in terms of ads for this show, but this way they can spend even less on it.

Thankfully, you don't have to wait long for Book 4.
