The Wil Wheaton Project (SyFy)
Talk Soup meets Tosh.0
First episode aired last night on SyFy.
It wasn't anything new and innovating but I thought it was funny.

I can't tell if this will be a good show going forward, but the first episode was surprisingly funny and entertaining for its format.

I saw Wheaton host a Orphan Black preview show (for Season 2) and he was AWFUL. Is he any better here?
I like Wil, but I'm not sure this is the right format for him.

I think Wheaton was trying way too hard. Also he's not as naturally funny or charming as a Joel McHale or Chris Hardwick. I enjoyed it, but I hope that Wheaton gets more comfortable doing this or else I can't imagine watching it for long.

The forced laughter from the crew was really bad. The 'jokes' really weren't that funny. Wheaton acted like they were the greatest things ever.
Anyone else experience audio issues? A few minutes in, Wil's voice started coming out of my surround speakers so I had to endure Wil Wheaton yelling at me from my sides for most of the show. The re-airings seemed to have the same exact issue.

Caught the first ep completely by accident. I like the concept, but the show seemed to try to too hard. If I had my way I would prefer Wheaton dial it back a notch on the delivery...

Watched this last night on the syfy website as I had forgotten which day this was supposed to start. I enjoyed it. though it wasn't perfect. I've added it to my DVR.
I did notice that in each segment, Wil's mic was in a different place. It went from his tie, to his lapel, and back to his tie. Maybe that's why the audio was wonky.

I thought it was horrible. Totally not funny and uninformative. Wil himself is ok, but the jokes...argh!
The lack of proper episode information from Syfy makes my TiVo want to record a dozen repeats rather than just the original episode.

Editing clips from The Walking Dead to look like the opening of an '80s sitcom...Wil acted like that's something they thought of and nothing like it had ever been done before.

I liked the drunk and stoned Cosmos clips. Liked the preview for Salem. Some of the jokes fell flat, but I liked the show overall.

Anyone catch the latest episode ?
I had a few laughs and overall I liked it. I think it'll pick up as it goes on.
Some of the skits are meh but I dont feel like changing the channel when watching.

Well, I was happy that the audio seemed fine in this episode. Why does my DVR record every re-airing of this over the week? Anyone else? It seems like every airing is marked as a new episode.

Re: The Wil Wheaton Project (SyFy)
On my DVR this happens because the episodes are non-specific, -they're not listed with titles or anything other than a generic description and none are listed as "repeats". Its very annoying. I'm willing to give the show a chance to find an "identity", to become something other than a "Soup" rip-off -if it can. I do wish Wil would take it down a notch, if you know what I mean.

My Directv dvr records every airing of the show. They need to fix the description.
The show for me until great.
NEed to stop the forced laughter and make the jokes funny.

Is it that Will's not funny, or he's too smug? I only watched about a minute at the end of maybe the first episode when he was talking about "Edge of Tomorrow" and how he wasn't going to watch it, and then tried to be clever about not watching it. At that point, I checked out, and was relieved to find out it was the end of the show right before a rerun of Heroes of Cosplay came on...

My main problem is that you have to be on the bleeding edge of new content, I am basically forced to skip the Game of Thrones material.

I like the show -- it ain't groundbreaking by a country mile, but it's amusing enough -- and I like Wil Wheaton, but good lord he REALLY needs to tone down the irritating levels of self-amusement.
Stop being so freakin' entertained by yourself, Wil. Trust your material enough to let the audience be entertained for you.
