Hannibal -- "Mizumono" -- 5/23/14 SEASON FINALE

05/23/2014 (10:01PM - 11:00PM) (Friday) : THE TRAP FOR HANNIBAL (MADS MIKKELSEN) HAS BEEN SET, BUT WHOSE SIDE IS WILL (HUGH DANCY) REALLY ON? Hannibal prepares for his imminent departure with, he believes, Will. Will prepares for a departure of another sort, tying up loose ends, not sure if he'll survive the trap he's set for Hannibal. Both men feel that Jack (Laurence Fishburne) deserves the truth, but what is that truth? Loyalties will be tested and forgiveness will be asked... and the inevitable battle between Hannibal and Jack is upon them. Also starring Caroline Dhavernas, Aaron Abrams, Scott Thompson, Lara Jane Chorostecki, Vladamir Jon Cubrt, and Kacey Rohl. TV-14 V
Renewed for a 3rd season.

"Oh God... I think the big thing to prepare yourself for is, you need to come to the finale as though you were attending a Gallagher concert. Wear your slickers because the blood is going to flow." - Bryan Fuller

I'm locking my doors, turning off the phone, the computer, the lights, the refrigerator - anything that may distract me from watching what I hope will be one kick ass finale.

I almost kinda wish they didn't start the season with the fight. I hope the finale can live up to those two minutes we've seen.

 That pretty much sums it up.

Those last 15 minutes were insane (literally!).

What a great season of TV. So glad this was renewed. It's gonna be a long wait.

Who knew Jack and Hannibal fighting was just the beginning. High body count. Guess we wait until next year to find out who lives.

Also did everyone watch the last scene during the credits?

Spoiler:
I'm trying to decide if that was reality or Hannibal's mind palace.

Poor Abigail.

And what the fuck, Fuller? Assuming anybody survives, (and outside of Will, I have no idea who makes it) they're going to need quite a bit of recovery time before anybody can give chase. Will was disembowled for Christ's sake! Jack's wife seems to be in the best shape of the "good guys" on this damn show.

I did not see Scully being part of Hannibal's master plan... which I guess explains how he's three steps ahead of everyone.

This show is just incredible. Hopefully it'll gather some word of mouth before next season.

I've never screamed at my TV like that. Lol
-Abagail appears. "What the hell!?!
-Window push. "FUUUUCCKKKK!"(Beautifully shot , btw.)
-Will guted."GODDAMITT!"
-Abagail assault. "NOOOOOOOO!!!!!"
Incredible finale. One of the best I've ever seen.

Re: Hannibal -- "Mizumono" -- 5/23/14 SEASON FINALE

It was a stylish and tense finale but I kept expecting Will to shoot Hannibal. I really thought he'd get him in the finale but I guess it'll be more interesting having him on the loose than locked up like we saw already with Will or in the movies.

Abigail and Scully showing up at the last minute feels like something they pulled out of their ass while they were writing this episode. Awhile back Hannibal was in his clean suit ready to kill Scully and she fled in fear. Now she's sitting cozy alongside him? They sure set it up like he had killed Abigail with lines about not being able to protect her in this life and later on when he was eating "veal". It just feels like something they cooked up to throw in some twists. It was great TV though. Can't wait for next season.

No they have been setting that up all season.

Off the hook finale. Wow. Kudos to NBC for letting them run with their vision. It is stunning TV. And some of the most difficult and atmospheric TV I have ever seen.

Re: Hannibal -- "Mizumono" -- 5/23/14 SEASON FINALE

I was disappointed because with 15 minutes left it was like eek who lives and who dies, and at the end I still didn't know. I almost deleted before the extra scene I was so meh.

boredsilly 05-24-14 02:52 AM

Re: Hannibal -- "Mizumono" -- 5/23/14 SEASON FINALE

I can't believe there was a point in time when I was like "What? A show about Hannibal Lecter? That's so dumb." Now, this show easily eclipses everything that has come before (books and movies) that featured this character.

I'm still a little unsure as to why things played out the way they did. Why Will made that phone call. But reading the fuller interview, I guess we aren't meant to truly know just yet, which is cool by me,

Mordred 05-24-14 12:13 PM

Re: Hannibal -- "Mizumono" -- 5/23/14 SEASON FINALE

I didn't know what Will was doing at the time, but he's genuinely upset when Hannibal is still there ("You were supposed to leave"), and I think he was trying to convince him Hannibal to escape in an effort to save a mostly defenseless Jack. Plus, while this is Hannibal, I think the audience is supposed to root for Will, so I can't imagine him actually intending to betray Jack.

I loved the Jack/Hannibal face merger shot.

Re: Hannibal -- "Mizumono" -- 5/23/14 SEASON FINALE

What an ep! I was shocked at how much blood flowed in the last 15 minutes. I not that surprised that Abigail showed up since they mentioned her in the previous eps. But I loved the way they foreshadowed Alana's death (maybe) earlier in the ep with the red tear.

Looks like we'll have to wait until the second episode to find out who lives and dies.

I'm intrigued with the change in locale (France) for Season 3. And it looks like we might be getting a lot more Gillian Anderson for S3. This manhunt for Hannibal might cause an interesting alliance between Mason and Will.

Re: Hannibal -- "Mizumono" -- 5/23/14 SEASON FINALE

Probably the best season finisher I've ever seen, I was NOT expecting that. To top it off, the score was fan-fucking-tastic as well.

Just excellent. The scene after the credits was just more icing on the cake.

boredsilly 05-24-14 08:44 PM

Re: Hannibal -- "Mizumono" -- 5/23/14 SEASON FINALE

These Hannibal seasons play out weird, because even though it happened this season, the death of Beverly felt like it happened years ago. This show is just so dense. It would have been nice if her name was mentioned in the finale by Jack.

Holy fucking shit!!!!!! :jawdrop:

That was an epic season finale!!! Amazing!! Bringing back Abigail and then the twist with Bedelia. My God, this season was like watching a 13 hour Hannibal movie.

Looking forward to what Fuller has planned for season 3. I read the TV Guide interview and it sounds like he has a pretty clear vision on what he wants. Kudos to NBC for sticking with this show. It's clearly one of their best and bravest dramas. More show runners need to take risks like Fuller.

I literally was gritting my teeth and shouting out loud at the TV for the last 15 minutes. An incredibly tense and well-acted show. I can't wait to see what they Fuller has planned for next season. I'll need the summer to catch my breath and recover.

what. the. fuck.

without a doubt one of the most intense hours of television ever created.

I'm glad that they renewed the show. Why would they even consider not doing so? Although I do give you that it's not your usual NBC show, so kudos to them for letting it run. The amount of insanity on this show is unbelievable

I think Jack had doubts about Chilton when he arrested him. Remember that Jack went to kill Chilton, but once he had him cornered in the woods, Chilton just looked so pathetic, you can see doubt creeping into Jack's eyes. Then Miriam shooting Chilton was just too "neat" to have not been orchestrated.

I think it's somewhat to the show's credit that it doesn't outright spell it out that Jack switched. It also puts some doubt in the audience's mind if Will has actually turned, at least until Lounds is revealed as still being alive.
