2 Eps have been better than the entire previous season of SNL.
The Jazz Club ventriloquist bit was great.
So was the How to be proper vhs tape.

I don't understand how anyone can not like Marty, but to each his own. He's one of the funniest and nicest guys in Tinseltown.

I like Marty. I think he is highly underappreciated in part becomes some of his recurring characters get annoying quickly. But his talent goes well beyond those characters. Also concur on the nice guy take as it has been related by many, many people who have worked with him. I don't think I've heard a less than kind word said about him.

It makes me wonder how two people like Steve Martin and Martin Short could ever stand to be around an untalented asshole like Chevy Chase

I think Martin Short is terrific, and the Jiminy Glick bits the past two weeks are really good, as was the ventriloquist bit. But a lot of that show is just pure unadulterated crap. Like the "laugh track/audience laughing" during the opening "monologue," where there there is laughing at things that are not at all funny. Or oohing at some perceived slight. That sort of thing makes me want to shoot my TV set. Is it supposed to be satirical, making fun of old variety shows? If so, it was over my head.
Also, I thought the Maya/Tina interplay was really lame.
