Hannibal -- "Tome-Wan" -- 5/16/14

"HANNIBAL"

"TOME-WAN"

05/16/2014 (10:01PM - 11:00PM) (Friday) : WHEN HANNIBAL'S (MADS MIKKELSEN) LIFE IS THREATENED, WILL (HUGH DANCY) MUST DECIDE WHETHER OR NOT TO COME TO HIS AID - GILLIAN ANDERSON GUEST STARS AS BEDELIA DU MAURIER In a therapy session, Will imagines how he would kill Hannibal, honestly sharing his visions, and oddly bolstering their co-dependency. Later, in a session with Mason Verger (Michael Pitt), Hannibal discusses Margot's (Katherine Isabelle) unfortunate "accident" and other veiled threats. Jack (Laurence Fishburne) grows impatient with Will's progress on catching Hannibal, and brings in a surprise witness from the past to help. And when Hannibal's life is threatened, Will must decide whether to come to his aid, and give Hannibal the opportunity for revenge. Also starring Kalen Davidson as the Wendigo, Daniel Kash as Carlo Deogracias, Bas Reitman as Tommaso, and Wayne Wells as Matteo. TV-14 V

No wonder the lighting seemed especially dark, even for this show. I doubt they could've shown that scene well-lit.

I'm surprised they were able to show it as they did. Since Verger was first mentioned, I've been saying to my wife, "No way they're going to show what happened in the books." Well, they showed what happened in the books. That would have been fairly brutal for a scene on HBO, let alone network TV.

Kudos to the talent involved in this show.

Re: Hannibal -- "Tome-Wan" -- 5/16/14

Yeah, really didn't think it was actually going to happen. At the very least, I thought maybe we would just see the result. Very unpleasant, but great TV!

Again, they borrowed from Hannibal (the film) with most of the Carlos bits, particularly tasing Lecter, the smell of Carlos, and trying to feed Hannibal to the pigs.

I was wondering how Mason would end up in the wheelchair. Then I thought Hannibal had killed him. I don't remember Hannibal breaking his neck in the book.

If the show didn't get picked up for a third season, Will would have arrested Hannibal for attempted murder.

Great episode. Was really hoping we would get to see Mason cutting his face off and am super surprised they did it.

Nice to have Anderson back too and finding out what happened with her patient.

Please tell me I am normal. Even though I was disturbed by the scene, I was laughing every time he spoke during it. "I'm full of myself." LOL. It is OK that I was laughing, right?

I think the disturbing violence and gore is allowed because of how dark everything is. Some scenes I need to squint and really look to see what's going on.

The show is so surreal and dreamy. Nothing like it out there right now.

disregarding the cannibalism and pretending everything Hannibal serves is the legitimate meat he tells his guests it is and not human, does anyone else think many of his "fancy delicacy" dishes are disgusting sounding?
whole fish and who knows what else suspended in a jelly of who knows what
liver and other organs on a regular basis
the whole bird bones and all from a week or two ago

This is a very hard show to watch as you are having a dinner or any kind of meal personally. I find none of his dishes delectable.

I certainly laughed at that, too.

Regarding the cuisine, I would like to try most of it, with proper (i.e. non-human) meats, but the bird with bones? Not a chance.

I always eat dinner with Hannibal. The only thing that has ever made me sick was the lobotomy earlier this season.

This quote about the next episode makes me a lil nervous about some of the characters.

Spoiler:
Fuller: Oh God... I think the big thing to prepare yourself for is, you need to come to the finale as though you were attending a Gallagher concert. Wear your slickers because the blood is going to flow

Oh shit.

Most of the gore doesn't really bother me except for that scene.

This was one of my favorite shows of this season. All sorts of great scenes in this one. I got a kick out of Hannibal beating up the 3 goons in his office before getting tasered by Carlo.

I am kinda curious about that last scene where Will is talking about Jack, almost egging on Hannibal to kill Jack. I think he's trying to bait him into killing Jack so Hannibal can be caught and tried for murder.

Re: Hannibal -- "Tome-Wan" -- 5/16/14

This is such a brilliant, fascinating show. Not really like anything I've ever seen before. The performances by the core three actors are so arch. The look on Hannibal's face when Mason starts driving his knife into the I'm sure antique and expensive therapy room chair was hilarious. I thought he was going to dice him into stew meat right there. Michael Pitt was fannnnnntastic.
