Re: NBC announces Fall 2014 schedule

Regarding new stuff:

As far as comedies go, I'll give Bad Judge a shot because I'm a fan of Kate Walsh

Marry Me because I like Casey Wilson from Happy Endings

Dramas:

I'll punish myself with the return of Heroes next year

Aquarius with Duchovny because it's a period cop show

State of Affairs because I've always liked Katherine Heigl.

And Constantine.

Edit: Just watched the trailers for Constantine and State of Affairs. Constantine looks really cool. SOF looks okay, Heigl doesn't exactly come across as a badass CIA person. We'll see.

I know Aquarius is probably a midseason show since David Duchovny is the only person they cast so far.

Re: NBC announces Fall 2014 schedule

Heroes is coming back in the summer of 2015 though so it will be air after most of these shows fail. Maybe, they can put it behind American's got Talent to give it the best shot at succeeding.

So Dracula bit the dust? Wasn't there talk of another Universal monster show coming to NBC to partner Dracula?

Heigl should run it. That way she won't have to deal with herself and inflated ego.

It's telling when the shows NBC picked up early (that and Mr Robinson) are not even on the Fall schedule.

Why?

Grimm will be in it's Fourth Season and Hannibal in it's Third next year.

Compare that to ABC who moved LMS from Tuesday to Friday, and everything after that has been canceled (except Shark Tank). CBS which has only had Blue Bloods and Fox which has canned every Friday show.

Yeah, Friday on NBC actually works. It's weird, but it works.

Just Grimm, surprised NBC even has that.

Expectations are lower for the night. Plus, I think they also a account for streaming and DVR people as well. Live overnights aren't the only factor nowadays.
True, but it seems like traditionally Friday's and Saturday's are where shows that are getting canned get their remaining episodes burned off or where shows that have declining ratings go to die. I guess if it's a case like Grimm or Hannibal and they don't have huge ratings expectations for it maybe Constantine will do okay.

Re: NBC announces Fall 2014 schedule

Which Friday shows recently got canned and had episodes moved to Friday? I can think of Rake (for a week or two). Everything else was already scheduled for Friday on Fox, CBS, NBC and ABC. Raising Hope had a final season which was scheduled for Friday all along, but that's it.

Even a Saturday burn off only happened for...Rake.

I guess maybe not so much recently. That always seemed to be the traditional night for dying shows though. To be honest I generally don't pay much attention to many of the shows airing on the big three over the past few years or so but that seemed to be the case at one point.

Re: NBC announces Fall 2014 schedule

Regarding Fridays

NBC has its genre shows (Grimm, Hannibal and now Constantine)

CBS has its cop procedurals (H50 and Blue Bloods)

ABC has Shark Tank and Last Man Standing.

It's not a completely dead night. Maybe FOX and The CW are the only ones who can't program for it.

Re: NBC announces Fall 2014 schedule

Now it's better to just either let the show air it's remaining episodes or they end up in the summer or Hulu. For instance Killer a Women unaired episodes are on ABC.COM

Fox Fridays are just death. When was the last time a show succeeded and lasted a season?

CW is typically a show spinning its wheels for syndication numbers (Nikita/HOD) and encores.

Fox's entire schedule is aging and low rated except Football. The only two new shows that were renewed were b99 and sleepy hollow. They have serious serious holes in their schedule.

Final season and/or when a show fails it'll replace it.

I guess "Intensive Karen" and "Celebrity Beat-off" will be mid season shows wherever they can fit them in?

Re: NBC announces Fall 2014 schedule

I bet A to Z and Bad Judge will bomb and Parks & Rec will come in to fill one of those spots.

A bunch of nobodys in A to Z which will not help its chances.

Re: NBC announces Fall 2014 schedule

Love pairing Constantine with Grimm. Perfect for each other. I'm guessing this will be like how it was this year, with Hannibal in the 2nd half in that Friday slot.

The only show we watch on NBC is Grimm, but we might add constantine.

Looks like for network programming yeah, I wonder if Amazon Prime/BBC America or Netflix will come in and air season 2.

They are trying to create a sci fi/paranormal/Strange evening with Grimm holding it's own. Obviously they do this because they hope to get a show that will keep most of it's Grimm lead in. It makes sense.

I might give them a chance to prove they can make even Ken Marino (Marry Me) not funny.
