Gold and Greed: The Hunt for Fenn's Treasure - Netflix mini docuseries (3 episodes) about various people who joined the search for a small treasure chest filled with gold and precious gems, worth more than a million dollars. The chest was hidden in the Rocky Mountains area of the western US by a wealthy man named Forrest Fenn. He left some vague clues in a poem in an autobiography he wrote. I had read some news stories about the treasure back when the hunt was on, but this series filled in all the details. I found it an entertaining watch, sometimes in laughing at how ridiculous some of the hunters were. There are also some very real and sobering scenes about the effect this treasure hunt had on Fenn, his family, and the hunters.

Red Queen (Reina Roja) - Amazon Prime video - a Spanish crime thriller series about a hyper-intelligent woman who is coaxed out of her reclusive life to help solve a series of murders. I liked this and will watch another season if there is one. It does get a bit ludicrous and also pretty cheesy at times, especially in the comedic scenes. In that way it reminds me a little of another Spanish show, Money Heist. But I liked the main character and the actress who plays her.

The Girlfriend (Amazon Prime) ...Olivia Cooke, Robin Wright, such great performances. haven't finished but I'm totally intrigued. it's a very tense little thriller.

Alice in Borderland - season 1 (Netflix). I've had this on my watchlist since the first season came out, but I kept putting off starting it and there are now three seasons. It's a Japanese sci-fi/drama/thriller that has similarities to The Hunger Games, Battle Royale, and Squid Game (which it predates). The story follows a young man and his friends who are somehow transported to a mostly empty Tokyo where they have to complete deadly games to survive. There is a lot of violence, but not too much gore. The circumstances (how did they get there? how can they get back to their world? who is running the games?) are mysteries that the characters are trying to understand. Overall I found this show pretty compelling and I'll be diving into the next season right away. There is an English-language dub track, but I'd recommend the original Japanese track with English subtitles.

Hightown - season 1 - I watched on Netflix, but it's a Starz Original series set in Cape Cod and about law enforcement investigating the drug traffic in the area. I liked this. The two leads--Monica Raymund and James Badge Dale--play characters with a lot of personal issues that blur the line between their private and personal lives. I had never heard of this show but stumbled across it when browsing on Netflix. It's different from what I expected, but in a good way. It looks like there's three seasons total.

Alice in Borderland - season 2 - Very good stuff! The ending felt like a series finale, though, so I'm wondering how they handled season 3?

The Studio...had no idea it was this good. Rogen is amazing in the role, and his cast members are equally as good. who knew Ike Barinholtz was so good, comedically and dramatically.
