JACK IS BACK!!!
LONDON CALLS JACK BAUER INTO THE FRAY!
EMMY AWARD WINNER KIEFER SUTHERLAND RETURNS AS ICONIC ACTION HERO IN SPECIAL TWO-HOUR EVENT SERIES PREMIERE OF "24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY" MONDAY, MAY 5, ON FOX
Set and shot in London, the suspenseful event series once again will follow the exploits of heroic agent JACK BAUER (Kiefer Sutherland). Four years ago, Jack was a fugitive from justice. Now an exile, he nevertheless is willing to risk his life and freedom to avert yet another global disaster. Tracking Jack are CIA head STEVE NAVARRO (Benjamin Bratt, "Law & Order"); CIA agent KATE MORGAN (Yvonne Strahovski, "Dexter"), who is both resourceful and ruthless; JORDAN REED (Giles Matthey, "Jobs"), a smart and sophisticated CIA computer tech; and ERIK RITTER (Gbenga Akinnagbe, "The Wire"), a sharp, strong and arrogant field operative. Calling the shots is JAMES HELLER (William Devane, "The Dark Knight Rises"), now President of the United States. Heller is flanked by his Chief of Staff MARK BOUDREAU (Tate Donovan, "Damages"), who is married to Heller's daughter - Jack's former flame, AUDREY (Kim Raver, "Revolution"). Meanwhile, a hardened CHLOE O'BRIAN (Mary Lynn Rajskub, "Firewall"), Bauer's CTU confidante, is now working underground with high-profile hacker ADRIAN CROSS (Michael Wincott, "The Crow"). The iconic pulse-pounding clock resets when 24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY premieres with a special two-hour television event "Day 9: 11:00 AM-12:00 PM/ Day 9: 12:00 PM-1:00 PM" on Monday, May 5 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (TWF-901/902) (TV-14 L, V)
Cast: Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer; Yvonne Strahovski as Kate Morgan; Mary Lynn Rajskub as Chloe O'Brian; Kim Raver as Audrey Boudreau; William Devane as James Heller; Benjamin Bratt as Steve Navarro; Tate Donovan as Mark Boudreau; Michael Wincott as Adrian Cross; Gbenga Akinnagbe as Erik Ritter and Giles Matthey as Jordan Reed.

excited to see what the corny b-story is
i assume they will stick to the same formula, ..which is a terrorist plot that has 3-4 different turns through the season, noone listens to jack, he gets arrested and/or tortured, he ends up being right all along and saves them all, etc etc
oh forgot...there will be a mole mixed in there somewhere
but the best part is always the side story involving a love interest or some family member
________
wudda yall think of chloe's goth look?

I still remember watching the first episode of 24 live all those years ago. Since that date back in 2001 I watched every episode but one live (stupid college professor scheduling a test for my night class), so you can understand what a huge part of my life this show became over the years. Needless to say, I am incredibly excited for the premiere tonight. Never thought I'd see the day where the clock started ticking again, but I'm more than ready to see Jack back in action.
Oh, and...

The only thing I'm looking forward to as much as Jack Bauer coming back is the return of Dave Barry's live blogging of 24:

Edgar is still dead.
24 2NITE
Tonight is the two-hour premiere of 24: The Writers Have Completed Rehab And Are Ready To Take Another Stab At It. This season will have a total of only 12 hours because the other 12 were stolen by the Russians and Jack Bauer must find them before time runs out so PUT THE WEAPON DOWN. Or something. We don't care what the plot is. We're just happy we have Jack and Chloe back.
We'll be live-blogging tonight's episode starting at 8 p.m. We believe The Amazing Steve will be providing his traditional amazing recap in the comments after the show.
So we'll see you here (actually, not here in this post: we'll have a new post at the top of the blog) at 8 p.m. Eastern Perimeter Time. Be here, or be a sphere.

Just finished a rewatch of Season 8 yesterday. What a dud, especially the first half. Still pissed about Renee. Hopefully the condensed episode order will really give this some life so we aren't wasting time with stupid side plots. Redemption was one of the best things they ever did so hopefully it is that caliber.

I get why people are excited about this. Heck, I'm fairly excited about this (though not to the level that others seem to be). What's confusing to me is that my recollection is that everyone was pretty much in agreement that the show had run its course by the time it had ended. Am I misremembering? What exactly has changed since the time season 8 ended? Is the fact that this basically takes the place of the movie that was promised but never happened? Is it a case of absence making the heart grow fonder? Are people convinced that whatever the show's weaknesses were will be alleviated by the 12 episode format? I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade. I'm geuinely curious.

There came a point where seasons just took a nosedive due to trying to fill the 24 episode format. In addition, there were so many annoying poorly written side characters.
The character of Jack Bauer is just awesome. It's nice to have him back. I never remember having any issues with anything involving him particularly.

Best TV day ever!
My Monday night ritual is back!
In 2001, I was in high school. 24 is still alive and kicking ass!

Yeah, after nearly 200 episodes over 8 years it's a bit much. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and what not.
Most shows would benefit from a season or two break.

I love 24 as much as anyone and am really looking forward to this. I always binge watched it as I always watched it on DVD vs live.
That being said I do agree that it needed a break. It would have been better had they seasons had more separation in from one another to make us want it more. That being said the seasons had become a little tedious to watch as some of the "subplots" were boring and wasteful. Perhaps the 12 episode format will fix that issue (or make it worse).
Oh and Jack Bauer is the shiznit!

I'm definitely excited for this. 12 episodes seems short, but it could actually work in the show's favour. I watched a bit of the preview that was on the other night. It looks like it has a good cast and I'm already guessing who the mole is (or at least, who will defect). Sure, 24 has a bit of a predictable formula in that sense, but I love it.

The promises of the character transitioning to the movies never happened and I think people missed the character. Getting 12 hours vs. a 2 hour movie is much more exciting. Plus it's cool that they are spending the money and shooting it overseas in England to give it an international feel as opposed to Los Angeles using CG, green screen and sets to fake locations.

Kiefer and company are back in the U.S. promoting the show. They have already shot 8 of the 12 episodes.

BTW, headsup
Episodes will re-air on Fridays
Double check your DVRs also for episode 3 that airs next week (5/12)
My DVR isn't picking it up because the wrong air date was published. It says the episode aired 5/5. You will probably have to set a manual record.
