Orange is the New Black (Netflix) -- Season 2 Discussion Thread (6/6/2014)
It's time. "Black" is back! It was confirmed by the official Netflix OITNB Twitter handle this morning that the second season of the hit Netflix original series, ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, premieres on Friday, June 6, 2014. Early fans who finished the last episode from season two of the Netflix original series HOUSE OF CARDS were treated to a surprise date announcement at the end of the episode during post play. All 13 episodes will be available to stream at launch in all territories where Netflix is available.

If you want to comment after every episode, great, if you would rather wait until you finish every episode, then great as well.

Renewed for a 3rd season: http://variety.com/2014/tv/news/oran...-3-1201172119/
I really don't think this show needs more than 5 seasons... which is pushing it. Would be fine with only 4.
52/65 episodes is plenty for this.
This especially holds true for House of Cards, IMO.

How long was she sentenced to? Wasn't it just a year? Though I could see the last episode of the first season leading to some additional time.

I haven't read the book, but from the title...it's 1 year served. I don't know if the events from the finale are factual. I guess they could diverge from fact and just let it go on and on...but I really don't see any Netflix series being some long term show. I like them as "event" style limited series. Atleast that's kind of how I view them.

I don't think I'm going to have time to get to this for a while. I definitely won't be able to binge it.

I'm going to watch Episode 1 tonight. I really ended up liking Season One of this show - way more than I expected to.
She was sentenced to 18 months, but there's a lot of fictionalization of things on the TV show - starting with "Alex" not really being in the same prison as her.
Happy Birthday, Mok!

Seriously considering pacing myself for this season. Sigh...

Interesting approach to the season, I guess they're alternating between Piper and the OG prison.
At least as far as I've watched.
Edit: Well that was short lived

I watched the first episode. It was really good, but due to some shit in my personal life, I am definitely not in a mental place where I can handle a show this intense. I'll come back to it in a month or two.

Watched the first episode and loved it.
I wished they had ditched the opening credits. Since they had everyone's names, there was no real suspense that Piper might be at that prison for good.
There was something very Velma from Scooby-Doo about her astrology cell mate.
It took me an hour to convince my mother that wasn't Ellen Degeneres on the plane.

The whole cast was on the cover of EW two weeks ago. Everyone knew they would be back.
It was an intense and unpleasant opening hour. I still liked it - especially the opening. It was so disorientating and unsettling. Well done.
