I can see Ollie vs Isabel a lose lose for him. Leave her alone, she controls his company. Fight her & kill her or driver her off for her being in league with Slade & authorities will find it suspicious that the new CEO of Queen Consolidated disappears right after kicking out the former CEO.

I hope the producers don't do the predictable thing and kill of Sara to have Laurel become the Black Canary. The characters are to opposites in terms of likability these days.

It's hard to envision a scenario where both Laurel and Sara are on the present day portion of the show next year. There is no where for Laurel to go and nothing for Katie Cassidy to do if Sara is on the show.

I would say a lot of people would just rather keep Caity Lotz, but I'm fairly sure Katie Cassidy has a better contract. I guess it will come down to the show runners commitment to her. Short of making Laurel a villain (which doesn't seem plausible for the character), there just doesn't seem to be enough for her to do if Sara is still running around as Black Canary next year. They have been straining this year.

Anyone else noticed that in the last few episodes Katie Cassidy has gained her original body mass back? I assume whoever suggested in a previous thread that her previous anorexic look might have been the actress selling the wasted appearance of the character may have guessed right. Because once Laurel started to finally take steps towards sobriety, Katie Cassidy started to look normal again.

I don't think she can become Black Canary tomorrow, but no matter her selfish level I think it's stretch to have her out there lining up against Oliver, her sister, and her father manipulating and hurting people. I think the only thing left to do with her next year is for her to join "Team Arrow". Having her, Sara, and Felicity all on Team Arrow is at least one too many, and Felicity is not going anywhere.
I don't know what the producers will do. I just think they're at a breaking point with the Laurel character. Either they fully recommit to her, or they let her go.

Re: Arrow -- "Deathstroke" -- 4/02/14
I think they kind of shot themselves in the foot in three ways when it comes to Laurel:
1. They brought in Felicity who has way more chemistry with Amell than Cassidy ever had. Despite comics lore and all that stuff I think most audience members want to see these two together at some point. I can't see anybody who wants Laurel and Ollie together other than the people who think the comics must be followed 100%.
2. They screwed up casting Caity. What I mean when I say this is that if Caity was supposed to be some kind of transitional character for Laurel, they got an actress who fit the role too perfectly. She fits with Felicity, Ollie, and Diggle way more than Laurel ever could. The fact that shes so popular and seems more integral to the show is evidence of that.
3. Katie Cassidy just doesn't seem like the kind of actress to play a good guy. She was great on Supernatural but over the two seasons of this show she just hasn't fit in all that well into the hero mold. I doubt anybody would expect her to become a hero if not for her character name.

The writing has done Laurel any favors, either.
I guess we'll get an idea of her future arc based on her reaction to learning Oliver's secret. But as this is a character who, upon seeing her sister alive after five years, immediately felt angry and betrayed, I don't see her joining Team Arrow any time soon. Turning in Oliver in exchange for her father's freedom is far more likely.

I know people around here hate to hear it, but I think Felicity gets moved to the Flash spin-off at some point. The way TV contracts work, she would make more money as a featured player on the Flash than on Arrow.
Smallville did eventually dump Lana, who was beloved by their execs at the time. Though her first contract had already ended and it was an easier decision to make, since the entire fan-base had grown incredibly bored with Lana's storylines.
The only thing that might save Laurel's character at this point is a turn to the dark side or she develops actual superpowers. I don't think they'll dump her, networks are always loathe to mess with a winning formula.

God, PLEASE don't make Laurel the Canary. At this point, I think a better way to go would be to kill Laurel off. Then Sara decides to "honor her sister's memory" or something and starts calling herself Laurel instead of Sara. Laurel is definitely the weakest link on this show, IMO.
