"Hey, what do we do if the Governor or someone like him attacks? Maybe we should have a rendezvous point if we have to scatter?"
"Hey, communicating would be nice. When you're out looking for food and antibiotics could you grab some two-way radios when you stumble upon yet another military camp?"
"Hey, should we make sure somebody is on lookout in the guard tower a little more regularly?"
But apparently none of them ever actually talk to one another.

If I were in that situation, afraid and worried about attacks from groups of scavengers, not to mention food and everything else, I would have been spending my time sitting around Herschel's farm, then the prison, talking with my fellow survivors about contingency plans.

Apparently there are no malls left in the state of Georgia. I know this show hates referencing prior zombie pop culture, but a Dawn of the Dead scenario would be quite compelling in this universe. We just happen to be following the dumbest and most violent survivors of the apocalypse.

A few weeks back, Glenn woke up from being knocked out during the prison fight. As far as he knew, he was the only survivor. He was dazed, probably concussed, definitely still weak from the fever that almost killed him. So he took a moment to clear his head, regain his strength, armor up, and gather supplies before heading out. I thought to myself while watching that the Bauerites on the site would approve.
Nope. "He took too long to leave the prison."
There are puh-lenty of legit complaint to make about the show. It's just that they tend to get drowned out by the silly stuff.

My memory is foggy, but what was their reasoning for leaving downtown Atlanta? I know Rick wanted to find Lori, so he was leaving regardless... and I know that one building they were overcome with walkers - but weren't there other buildings they could hide in?
Also, someone refresh my memory... did they bomb the downtown to shit a season or two ago? Or am I thinking of another show or movie?

There was a flashback scene of Shane, Lori, etc. leaving Atlanta where a bunch of jets (or was it helicopters?) flew overhead towards the city. I don't think they bombed it though. Maybe you're thinking of 28 Weeks Later or World War Z?

So downtown Atlanta isn't a pile of rubble.
Wouldn't the downtown area have a lot less walkers now with there being no food around 2-3 years later? They're walkers - they move on if there's nothing around and especially if there's noise coming from elsewhere.
Wouldn't downtown Atlanta be a great place to set up shop now? You have a bevy of buildings to choose from, most of them offering numerous floors to allow great separation from any walkers below. You can essentially create barriers around a city block or more and have your own very secure mini-city. This would be a much better and stronger Woodbury. I'm sure the shops and malls down there still have a lot of items around and haven't been picked clean yet. Hell, there are so many buildings you could probably find most of the stuff you're looking for in them.

A downtown area would be good or bad depending on how well you set it up. Because of the buildings you'd have less avenues of escape. At the same time you could block off whole streets if you have the means to do so. The walker population would have dwindled down but you'd still have some that are trapped or moving towards Atlanta from other areas. But, yeah, the numbers would be nothing like when it first started.

It was a good episode. I knew something shocking would happen due to comments I saw on Facebook, but I was thinking the younger sister would be forced to kill the older one.
Forgive me for asking an idiotic question but my memory about what happens in past shows is terrible. Judith is Rick's kid, isn't she? For some reason I assumed she was dead...

And although the flu-like zombie-fying illness ultimately threw a wrench in their already existing "escape bus to safety" plan, I think they were too busy trying to treat that illness outbreak and get it under control first.
So when the Governor attacked was a very bad time defensively for them because of still dealing with the illness outbreak and that they had not yet devised a better escape plan that didn't involve the new danger of packing a lot of sick people close together on a bus.

Ricks's wife Lori hooked up with Shane right before being reunited with Rick. Lori and Rick of course have sex. Lori then becomes pregnant so it's uncertain who the father might be.

Yea, Lori went a whole 1.5 months mourning a possibly-dead Rick before banging Shane. Lori's a classy lady.

Shane minpulated Lori from the beginning. He knew that she and Rick were having a spot of marital problems - it's what Rick and Shane's conversation was about on the opening scenes of the series - and used this knowledge, and his closeness to her family, to his advantage. "Rick's gone, I'm here. I'll protect you and keep you safe". Given the situation, what with the zombie apocalypse and all, pretty attractive qualities to somebody in Lori's shoes.

I think the school bus was their contingency plan, but that was intended for the possibility of zombies knocking down the fences and overrunning the place. So the plan was for everyone to get on the bus and they would drive until they were out of imminent danger. They were not expecting people showing up with a tank and using it to blow up a lot of their defensive positions (such as the guard tower).
