Knowing how desperate some marketers in Hollywoodland really are to generate attention, I have to believe some of those animations were carefully placed by the promo department.

These are terrible for plasma TV owners. My son has started watching something channel called History 2 or something that has a big bright red and yellow "H2" logo in the upper right corner. Later I noticed the image retention of the H2 whenever there was white in that area. This is a top of the line Panasonic plasma too.

I can see the want for a network bug because it would help people tie the show with the network rather than the station. I still know people who live in another state and will ask me if I saw what was on channel 4 the other day. I'll ask what network that is and they have no idea. Hmm, maybe the network bug isn't helping.
I just wish they'd move it all the way to the corner of my widescreen TV than keep it toward the middle 4:3 portion. What a half-measure.

I don't mind it so much on junk TV like TLC, because well, it's just more junk anyway. What irritiates me to no end is seeing it on premium channels. I'm dumping Cinemax and never re-subscribing becuase I had to watch the entire season of Banshee behind this for whole hour:
#BANSHEE
yeah, notice that's all you can see in my message now. You probably aren't even reading this.

I don't mind the quick flash of a hashtag, it does get annoying when they constantly flash it. Pretty Little Liars is absolutely terrible at this, posting inane hashtags for minor events each episode.

I definitely don't like them. I don't think I would mind if they were actually in the corners, but I noticed on Hannibal that the station bugs were still in position to be visible for people watching the show in 4:3. At least that how it appeared anyway.

This is probably the most notorious example of obscuring the program:

In Oklahoma, in addition to the network bug, we usually have a weather map with the logo of the local station taking up the upper right sixth of the screen starting around April and going through August or September. I don't understand why they can't just put it on for a minute every 15 minutes or so. If there is even a hint of severe weather, they go to non-stop wall-to-wall weather programming anyway.

I wish if they have to have them they would put them in the upper corner instead of lower. A lot of great Adrienne Barbeau butt shots on Maude are covered by the Antenna TV logo.

I hate the scrolls on the bottom of the screen during NFL games to show scores and fantasy stats.
They take away half of the screen.
Glad HBO does not use a screen logo during their shows.

The hashtag thing doesn't bother me because Twitter right now is considered the main form of interactive communication for TV shows and Movies with actors and behind the scenes people. The old farts seem to hate it, but it's the reality of the entertainment business nowadays.

Last night my wife and daughter were watching You've Got Mail on E! because she couldn't find the DVD. They had news about the royal baby scrolling at the bottom.
