She's going to have to double her mass with muscle to approach what Abby looked like in the game. Abby made all of the men in the game looks small in comparison. I also have a hard time seeing her act with the rage needed for some of the scenes. But I'd happily be wrong if she can pull it off.

Never played the game so I wouldn't notice if her size affects the role. Does her physical size factor into her role?

The character was so jacked that the anti trans folks got their panties in a bunch thinking she was a trans character.

Right from the start, she's essentially Jack Reacher's little sister.

Spoiler:

This cosplayer makes a good physical match.

Re: The Last of Us - news, rumors, etc.

He was great on Beef.

The Last of Us continues to beef up its Season 2 cast. The latest addition: BEEF star Young Mazino, TVLine has learned.

Mazino will play Jesse in the HBO drama’s second season. The official character description calls Jesse “a pillar of his community who puts everyone else’s needs before his own, sometimes at terrible cost.” And if you’ve played The Last of Us Part II, aka the video game that’s the base material for the show’s sophomore run, you know that Jesse is someone who has important ties to Ellie… and that’s all we’ll say to keep everyone nice and unspoiled.

Re: The Last of Us - news, rumors, etc.

“The Last of Us” has found its Dina, with Isabela Merced joining Season 2 of the hit HBO series.

“Dina is warm, brilliant, wild, funny, moral, dangerous and instantly lovable,” said series co-creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. “You can search forever for an actor who effortlessly embodies all of those things, or you can find Isabela Merced right away. We couldn’t be prouder to have her join our family.”

Merced is now the third new cast member announced in recent days, joining Kaitlyn Dever as well as “Beef” star Young Mazino.

Dina is described as “a free-wheeling spirit whose devotion to Ellie will be tested by the brutality of the world they inhabit.”

Does it? I don’t recall it being an issue of relevance in the game. Or is it later?

Re: The Last of Us - news, rumors, etc.

If they change it up for the show and make Abby petite (as Dever currently is) then my hype for season 2 is dead.
Abby's character took my love for this franchise to another level and fuck them if they neuter her for the show.

Re: The Last of Us - news, rumors, etc.

I know Laura Baily was publicly happy for Dever but I think she has to be quietly confused as to why she didn't get a chance for the part. She's the voice of Abby in the game and is already someone who works out a bunch. Her facial features don't match Abby well but literally everything else does.

Laura Baily is 42 years old. Abby is supposed to be about the same age as Ellie.

They'll have her in some kind of cameo* no doubt, but it never would have made sense to put her in this role for the show.

I am... cautiously optimistic about Dever. I think she can handle the role itself, and it actually kind of makes sense to cast her because:

Part 2 / Season 2 spoilers
Spoiler:
it'll make it easier to film the 'young Abby' scenes sooner than later, before she gets swole, rather than the other way around. They need someone -- not unlike Bella Ramsey (who was still a teen during filming S1) -- who can look young enough to be a teen and then age/harden up a bit.

If they don't do that, then yeah, there's a good chance the character gets changed significantly, which I don't think would be a good way to go.

*light spoiler, barely
Spoiler:
Bailey already had a cameo as a nurse in the final episode of the first season, though.

Re: The Last of Us - news, rumors, etc.

Catherine O’Hara has joined the cast of The Last Of Us Season 2.

HBO is staying tight lipped about her casting for now, saying only that O’Hara will be guest starring in an “undisclosed role.”

Re: The Last of Us - news, rumors, etc.

‘Last of Us’ Season 2 Casts Danny Ramirez, Tati Gabrielle, Ariela Barer, Spencer Lord

“The Last of Us” Season 2 has added four new cast members, Variety has learned.

Danny Ramirez (“Top Gun: Maverick,” “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”), Ariela Barer (“How to Blow Up a Pipeline,” “Runaways”), Tati Gabrielle (“You,” “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”), and Spencer Lord (“Riverdale,” “Family Law”) have all joined the hit HBO series’ second season.

Ramirez will play Manny, described as “a loyal soldier whose sunny outlook belies the pain of old wounds and a fear that he will fail his friends when they need him most.” Barer will play Mel, said to be “a young doctor whose commitment to saving lives is challenged by the realities of war and tribalism.”

Gabrielle has been cast as Nora, “a military medic struggling to come to terms with the sins of her past.” And Lord will appear as Owen, “a gentle soul trapped in a warrior’s body, condemned to fight an enemy he refuses to hate.”
