Brooklyn Nine-Nine - "Tactical Village" - 3/4/14

Kyle Bornheimer ("Family Tools," "She's out of My League") Guest-Stars

The precinct heads to Tactical Village Day, a mandatory training course in which all regional precincts compete. While there, Amy runs into Teddy (guest star Kyle Bornheimer), a fellow officer she used to date. Meanwhile, Holt becomes addicted to a game on his phone and Rosa is pissed at Charles for not inviting her to his wedding in the all-new "Tactical Village" episode of BROOKLYN NINE-NINE airing Tuesday, March 4 (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (BRK-119) (TV-14 D, L, V)

I'm really loving that the show is becoming more of an ensemble giving each actor at least a couple of things to do each episode. Really enjoying this a lot.

Excellent episode. Kinda reminded me of some of the cool episodes of The Office, when they weren't in the office.

Really enjoyed this episode. This reminded me of my friend's police academy open house a couple years ago. Got to see the tactical village building. Stages set up as apartment rooms, a school, a bar, etc.

And can't forget about kwazy cupcakes!

Agreed. The entire ensemble seems to have their unique strengths and they're catering to it effectively.

They seemed to stretch the STD bit, but I kept getting a chuckle out of it so it worked. Funny episode.

Once again they did a good job of making Gina, my least favorite character, completely enjoyable. Her interactions with the Captain and that game were hilarious.

And I'm still laughing at the scene where Boyle "stretched his buttholes."

I thought the stuff with Holt's videogame addiction was very funny.

Here are some pics of the tactical village I went to during the police academy open house. Civilians can volunteer to be bad guys or hostages too:

One of things that I love the most is that they find funny ways to use Scully and Hitchcock in every episode, but manage to never overuse them.

No, I think they were just doing a parody of Candy Crush.

I like how the main detectives are actually competent at their jobs when they put their minds to it (Boyle double-tapping that guy). It's much better than watching them bumble around in everything they do.

They all seem to be competent except for Hitchcock and Skully, and I don't think they have hidden that fact. The personal lives seem to be where they are stunted.

That's why I noted the "main detectives" - those guys are obviously there for those reasons.

It's just like when Michael Scott would turn around and be a kick-ass paper salesmen. Made me more willing to excuse his in-office behavior.

Thanks!

I wish this episode had more scenes with the tactical village, especially with aerial views.

The Golden Globe win made that almost inevitable, but it's still good to hear.

I'm usually terrible at picking up new comedies, but I'm glad I stuck with this one.

Nice! I figured it a lock for a second season when they won the awards, then put it on after the superbowl. Here's hoping season two sees a jump in overall ratings!
