Sunday Night Dilemma - What are you Watching?

CBS, NBC, and FOX were smart enough not to schedule any brand-new programming against The Oscars, but that doesn't mean we have an easy choice Sunday night, as TRUE DETECTIVE airs its penultimate episode, while WALKING DEAD runs a Daryl-centric one.

So, the question is, what are you watching LIVE from 9pm - 10pm (Eastern), and when (discuss in thread) will you catch up on the other two (assuming you watch both)?

For me, it's the OSCARS live, Walking Dead as soon as the Oscars are over, then True Detective on Monday.

Easy choice for me: The Walking Dead, though slightly delayed to be able to FF commercials which is as live as I watch anything any more. Haven't watched True Detective - will probably marathon it some day. I'll record and skim through the Oscars for about 10 minutes looking for anything crazy that happens. Otherwise I find the Oscars incredibly tedious to watch, so watching live is out of the question.

True Detective. Then Walking Dead via DVR if I'm not too tired. I have no interest in the Oscars.

I plan on timing it so I start the Oscar telecast (the real telecast that starts at 7:30 Central time, not the Red Carpet stuff) at 8:00. This will get me through the opening part and I'll catch up with the live telecast around 8:30ish. Then I'll watch Walking Dead in its entirety, switch back to Oscars and watch until I'm caught up with live again, then do True Detective or Talking Dead depending on my mood, then finish the Oscars.

Oscars. I'll watch True Detective either right after or the next day. No interest in Walking Dead.

I don't have HBO and I'm two episodes behind on The Walking Dead so this is an easy choice for me. On the other hand, I'm probably not going to be home either so I'll most likely tape The Amazing Race and part of the Oscars.

I just don't understand the appeal of the Oscars (or any televised awards shows). Years ago, I could spend four hours watching to see who wins awards, or wait until the next morning and spend four minutes reading about it.

now, i just have to have twitter open and follow any news organization.

I wonder if the fact that the East Coast is getting hit with another storm Sunday night will significantly increase the TV ratings, and ABC will mistakenly think it was because of Ellen hosting.

Re: Sunday Night Dilemma - What are you Watching?

I work but True Detective will be what I watch. I don't really care about The Walking Dead and the Oscars I usually don't watch in their entirety. I'd rather just read the results and go through what I want to watch after the show is over.

Re: Sunday Night Dilemma - What are you Watching?

Meh Sunday night. I'll watch the Stan/Arizona game live and TAR off the DVR and record True Detective and watch it the next day. Couldn't care less about the Oscars. Check that - maybe zombies I couldn't care less about.

Re: Sunday Night Dilemma - What are you Watching?

None of the above. I'll watch The Walking Dead and True Detective but at some point but not live. The Oscars I wouldn't watch if you paid me. Awards shows suck in general and the Oscars are by far the worst and most meaningless to me.

Re: Sunday Night Dilemma - What are you Watching?

No conflicts on the West coast, as the Oscars air live. But since I don't care about them, I'll be watching The Walking Dead as well as catching up on the rest of the week.

I look at it as a welcomed day off for my DVR.
