Re: Macgyver - is it Rewatchable ?

MacGyver was an 80s show that didn't fall into the 80s show traps. I'm not saying it's timeless by any means, but it's certainly not dated like say Miami Vice.

But it's also slower paced than what action shows call for these days. That's just how shows were back then. The cool thing with MacGyver is that he has always been the anti-action hero. He hates guns and tries to solve problems with as little violence as possible. It keeps the show fresh, since even today that's pretty much unheard of.

You do have to bear in mind one thing: MacGyver isn't serialized, other than a few minor plot points. So it's easy to jump into or out of. And much like most shows like that, there's some good ones, and some stinkers. I'd say watch an episode or two (doesn't really matter which ones, again, you're not gonna miss anything with only 2 main characters and a couple recurring ones) and see if you like it. The show was very consistent during it's run, which is rare.

I just finished watching it (many of them for the first time actually since I didn't see the entire series back in the day) a couple of years ago. I'd say it is probably one of the better 80s shows to rewatch.

No. Not at all. I just tried this recently. It's one of those man things from the 80's that are better left in the past. Theme song still kicks ass though.

Still love the show and I'm a 90's kid so It's definitely rewatchable. Even though I do hate when Macgyver says "gosh darn it!"

It's rewatchable up to a point. I love the season where he becomes social-worker MacGuyver.

Beyond signs of the times such as clothing styles, cars, and lack of cell phones, I still find it watchable. At least the pre-mullet episodes.

I think it holds up pretty well, much better then the other 80's action shows. But the later on the series goes, the more that it starts to get really cheesy.

Don't thank me. Thank the moon's gravitational pull.
