Chronologically LOST: a guy dissected every scene from Lost and put them in order.

I'm not linking the episodes due to legal reasons. I found it on a thread from reddit the other day. There's also a Facebook page with the episodes.

From the reddit thread explaining the concept. Spoilered for some plot elements:

Spoiler:
Two guys did this. Most people believe that Lost Chrono is better than Chronologically Lost, but it depends on your goal in watching the show. Lost Chrono tries to keep storytelling in tact, which Chronologically Lost is very literal about timeline.
That means that during the time travel sequences, Chronologically Lost becomes unwatchable as a straight narrative but instead gives you an idea of what other events were occurring around the times they jumped to, while Lost Chrono follows the subjective timeline of the characters.
Some things I got of out these cuts:
a) You get a real sense of how events relate. Jack's actions in season 5 suddenly aren't so crazy when you realize that John has only been dead for two weeks.
b) Your views of the characters change: Kate is simultaneously more sympathetic and less, overall John Locke's story gets much more sad, both in the tragic and pathetic sense. Him going after the Oceanic 6 both makes more sense and is much more sad. His mystic nature is stripped away before he even appears on screen and you see him as misguided and manipulated from step 1. Ben's turn against Jacob feels much more earned, etc
c) Nicki and Paolo feel like part of the normal cast and not shoehorned in
etc. etc. a few dozen times over. Worth a watch if you care about Lost that much!

Does the ending still suck?

The ending of LOST was great!

Spoiler:
Juliet hit the nuke with a rock which set off ripples in time that started the whole chain of events for the entire show.

Best five seasons of television ever. You guys act like there was a whole extra season of fan service bullshit that ruined the entire thing or something.

It's true though. The last season was so bad, and then when they reveal everything they are in frickin' purgatory like most people figured after a few episodes that it completely sapped any desire to see a single minute of LOST ever again.

Sadly, I agree with both of these posts. It's like Lindelof and Cuse sculpted a gorgeous marble statue over five beautiful seasons, and then decided to take a wrecking ball to it with season six. For the people that haven't watched the series, stop at the end of season five.

Everyone thought the island was purgatory after a few episodes. No one figured out that they would meet up in some kind of purgatory after they died until they could move on together.

OK, does not change the incredible lameness of the last season and the ending, when it was set up the previous season to be pretty interesting.

Wow...what a colossal waste of time.

So the ending is every bit as bad as I've been told?

I have no argument with that.

I didn't think it was "bad," it's just extremely disappointing. They created every episode of LOST as riviting--it's a thoroughly enjoyable ride week-to-week--and they created a ton of mysteries along the way that they tease you with time and again.

Then, in the end, most of them go unanswered. Some people think the ending is satisfying on a character-level, but if you got into the mysteries at all (which is what most the series is founded on), you're bound to be disappointed.

Let's lay Lost to rest

The series is riddled with contradictions, dangling plot points, and blah blah blah. The defenders of this say that it was a character study, which it absolutely was not. Characters did not act consistently, and in fact usually people complained that they seemed to act only in service of the plot, and not in character at all.

This series had such an incredible amount of potential, and I think many, including myself, were willfully blind to how shoddily it all was put together.

Yes, there were a bunch of amazing episodes along that way. However to see that only the last season was bad, I find that revisionist history. I loved a lot of these characters, but as a complete work, Lost is very lacking. It has some nice highs, but also some incredibly abysmal lows.

I think watching along with the rest here actually added to my enjoyment however. I'm still waiting for the mysterious floating alien island to appear.

It was a unique mostly well made show. I rewatched it a year ago and felt the shows ending was fine, just not mind blowing like many seemed to expect initially.

Everyone has an opinion of course. There are people that absolutely hate the show and their creators, and the opposite.

But I think everyone agrees, at least, that the last season wasn't as good as the rest.

Also, Lost opened the doors for new, great, shows in the following years.

Yes, though the final season doesn't get disastrously bad until we start getting "answers" to some of the bigger mysteries in the final few episodes.

It was pretty apparent during the final season that the writing staff was more concerned with their next job after Lost than trying to end it in a strong fashion.

Even Chris Carter was offended by how bad the Lost finale was.

While the show was probably one of the most enjoyable in years and probably, years to come, the ending was a big disappoint.
To me it seemed that by the 6th season, writers and producers just wanted it to end as if they got bored. They didnt seem to commit from start to finish. It would be great if they went back to did season 6 all over with intensity and drive as when the show first started.
Like many have said, so many unanswered things. I think they confused more than explained by seasons end.

I think they failed with Season 6 overall. But I absolutely LOVE the series finale.

Do they allege that it was planned that way, or did they pull it out of their ass at the end?

Read the de facto, unofficial official board for the Lost production:

http://forum.thefuselage.com/index.php

As best as most can tell there never was a master direction for the end, even after they agreed to officially end the series with ABC. Basically the masterplan never went far beyond one season in advance.
